Is Golovkin any good, he's undefeated 23 wins, 20 KO.
But I don't know his opposition.

cause to these guys the olympics are the pinnacle of the sport which is why instead of going pro they keep trying for another shot at the olympics......they train to win in the am system and that style is currently very detrimental to the pro format. It encourages bad habits like shoe shining and not worrying about landing power shots so the few that do turn pro have a lifetime of bad habits to change in a hurry before they get sparked.

Japan is good, Nishioka, Uchiyama, Igarashi and Ioka are rated at the top of their divisons by the RING and hold world titles. Yamanaka, Ao, Koki Kameda and Sato have world title belts and Shimizu. Serie, Miyazaki, Hasegawa and Shimoda are also highly rated amongst others

You don't know **** about boxing. you seen how many lower weight champs Japan have over past decade or so?

Also, of those countries you named, only Brazil (and Japan in same final) are actually in a gold medal fight.

Have a look at the semi-finals from yesterday you mong... Shoe shining  In every fight there were standing counts and guys getting hurt. America is **** in the amateurs and pro game. You know your country produces **** boxers when guys like Berto and Broner get hyped up as top guys. The only real world class, quality fighter America has produced in the last 10 years is Andre Ward. And look at that, he was an Olympic gold medallist.

Boxing was banned in China in 1959 by Mao Zedong for being too American and brutal, but the ban was lifted in 1989, so boxing is like a new sport in China. Maybe we'll see some more fighters from China going pro in the coming years.

It's shame some countries like Cuba and china don't let athletes turn pro. Not only would we see these guys we see in Olympics, all the runners up with good pro styles would liven up the sport. Remember, till 20 years ago Russian,s Polish, and other Communist controlled counties were keeping guys from going pro. Imagine sport past 10 years with no Russian or East German, polish, etc. boxers?

Mostly due to scoring and style taylored to support olympic style scoring.

    "I touch you, ....I scored a point."
