Not sure if anyone posted this yet. He was a great referee.

    ANNOUNCEMENT
    Referee Elmo Adolph passes

We’ve received sad news that famed boxing referee Elmo Adolph passed away last night at the age of 78. He refereed in dozens of world championship fights and for years worked most of the biggest fights in Mississippi and Louisiana. Funeral arrangements are pending.

A fixture in the New Orleans amateur and pro boxing game died the past Thursday of a heart attack in his hometown of Destrahan, La., a small town about 20 miles outside New Orleans. Mr. Adolph officially retired from refereeing in 2008 and it is estimated he officiated over 23,000 amateur, 1,000 pro and 32 World Title Fights in his long career.

He was the only man to ever officiate an Olympic gold medal fight (Seoul) and world championship fights in the pro ranks and was one of only 16 refs from the U.S. to participate in Olympic game boxing matches.

    RIP Mr. Adolph
