Easy comming from a devastating loss, problem with His marriage, uncle, Fathers dead. Not mentally well with no love from boxing not training weel and a bad trainer, another is Clottey was in his prime and bad cut on early on.

He didn't have his confidence, even with Mayorga he was being passive.. There was a round where Cotto had him in the corner and took his foot off the gas..

Oh it didn't help he only can see with one eye with that gash as well..

Anyone who says Cotto was fine is in denial. His punches lacked the snap and power they had in his peak, he seemed slower, and even the way he threw punches was off.

At 154, I can see much more of the prime Cotto, than in his last bouts at 147.

You can see that when Cotto lost his confidence it was like he had to think before throwing, with Margarito II he got his confidence back and went back to the old Miguel who just threw and attacked and applied pressure "smartly" some people just don't wanna give the guy credit..

Clottey came to fight that night, and Cotto's outside of the ring issues and that cut made it a tough night. Split decision that I wouldn't have minded a rematch for, but Clottey disappeared after the Pac fight....

    Couple of things.

    1) THe cut definitely didn't help cotto.
2)Style makes fights. cotto is all wrong for Clottey's style bc his slow handspeed and also CLottey does bad against people who can out work him. Cotto doesn't have a high work rate either.

Agreed. I've watched the man's entire career. There are so many variables, but his final time at 147 was definitely a low point. Weight may have been an issue, but I think it was more likely a confluence of distractions in his personal life along with a lack of proper training.

Because Clottey is a beast. If Clottey wasn't Black African? He would be a superstar. Clottey's entire reason for not being A+ level and a champion is Boxing economics due to politics. I would put my money on Clottey against damn near every top name at 154 today.

Boxing promoters just don't seem to put in the work to sell a scientific Black African fighter. If he isn't scary knocking fools out? His career is just blah. Josh "The Grandmaster" Clottey in a nutshell.

 I love when fighters get better as they get older, more shopworn, and further from their starting weight. I guess the Marquez that fought Floyd was better than any version of Marquez that Pacquiao fought as well!

didn't do ****? :patsch lol go watch the middle rounds again, Clottey's right hands were the best shots of the fight and he landed some ripping uppercuts too. Cotto couldn't land a clean punch to save his life after the knockdown, and just had to resort to shoe shining/out working clottey for points, 85% of the clean punches landed in that fight came from clottey.

Margarito took his heart and Clottey was a guy said to have given Margarito hell, I think it was more of a confidence thing getting back into form

He didnt perform poorly he was in a tough fight against a really solid fighter who's also a difficult fight for him stylistically. Everybody was predicting a tough fight that night. The huge cut he had didn't help either.
