to be fair to this 666 fella, i totally see where hes coming from... Plenty of tragedies like this happen in other professions that are unfortunate enough not to have people collecting money for them, and they just end up losing their (and their families) lifestyles in the process.

BUT, I see no point in picking holes in people who are trying to do a good gesture, if he had been a boxer I had seen and enjoyed on a few occasions, I would probably donate. (well I would if me and my partner hadnt been ****ing made redundant this month!)

    The NHS is free.

Plenty of other tragedies happen in other professions, and i have seen this with my own eye's.

It's a sad thing that Jonjo Finnegan has been injured. But this happens in boxing, it is a real shame. But firstly this is a case for the BBBOC to supply the best support for the family, and it's also up to his family and friends to stick by each other. In life this is what you have to do as a family and a unit....

I have no objection to people making donations go for it, but he has been injured during his job, it happens all over the world. Weather it be physical or emotional, it is a shame.

And i am not sure weather everyone will receive thousands of grand when it happens.

Bronx made valid points, and in my opinion he was not being a ****.

If i was loaded, i probably would make a donation!...........but i am not!

What are the BBBOC doing, they should have support set up for families in this situation.

I'd be more then happy to pay a monthly donation into a fighters fund if it was run properly. Lots of guys fall on hard times, get shafted badly by managers etc and friends and lose there money and injuries like this.

£2-5 a month out of my pocket would mean more to those who need it more, same with homeless i always try give change when i can. Opinions vary but jut my view on it all..

I'm not to bright where these matters are concerned, but if he has a licence to fight under the BBBoC, would he not be insured for incidents like this?

To be honest m8 there are alot of good causes out there that need money, Im not sure a boxers fund would be at the the top of my list, saying that its good for the boxing community to pull together to help their own.

Well it wouldn't stop people putting money into other charity's, it would a donation and optional.

And TBH people should feel free to donate to a cause without worrying about where it fits in on some arbitary "worthiness" scale.

Totally agree! I only have a certain amount of money so there has to be some priority, which of course is personal and individual choice.

this. surely it should be a requirement that all pro boxers should have some sort of insurance policy?

One of our pro's must know the deal when it comes to this sort of thing, sure it's not as simple as most insurance things.

I guess its up them. I have one thats provided by work but TBH I probably wouldn't have got around to sorting one out for myself otherwise.

When McGuigan tried to get this sort of thing off the ground he had the age old problem of young men thinking they'll never get old and that they can't be hurt, the boxers didn't want to pay in.

Not sure on this one, either. But, skillspaybills is on to something here. There are more worthy causes as rampant said, but BBBofC should have something in place, and I know they might rally round and post on forums like this, but a small purse percentage, promoter fee, manager fee etc... could all be put into a pot for this type of tragedy. These guys don't earn millions like footballers, it's ****ed up and something should be done.

Something in the opening post doesn't seem right here if it's on about the same person were talkin about..for starters Jonjo isn't married :think secondly how come all the fundings going into his mums account for his family instead of his partners and lastly his dads a multi-millionaire :huh...it all seems a bit far fetched for me really, everyone in the local community is very saddened by what's happened an thy all wish him a very speedy recovery but for everyone to be jumping on the bandwagon sayin it's for the Jonjo fund a all just tryin to cash in
