    Boxing before 1912...?

    No real order to this...

    * Bob Fitzimmons
    * Tommy Ryan
    * George Dixon
    * Jack Johnson
    * Sam Langford
    * Joe Gans
    * Barbados Joe Walcott
    * Stanley Ketchel
    * Jim Corbett
    * Terry McGovern

    Tough to say which set of fighters is more revered among fans of each sport.

    james figg would kick all those mma guys asses. they'd take him down and he'd fish hook their eyes out before they knew where their sub transition was.

    Interesting thread. I believe that guys like AS will be viewed as Legends in the future like we see Robinson today or in this case, guys like Gans or Fitz.....

    We saw (and we are still watching) fighters that will be in the history of the Sport forever.
    Something tells me that MMA won´t have too many great fights often in the future. Something like happened with Boxing probably will happen with MMA too at some point..

    Jones :lol:
    The sport must be ****, if he's considered a top 10er.

    Pre-1912? dang if I know any athletes let alone boxers from that era.

    Was Paul Bunyon a boxer? I bet he would have been a powerful puncher. That axe motion would have given him some serious core strength.
