Jnr is big, but there's not much between him and Sergio, even at this stage, physically. What Jnr has going for him is youth, a solid chin, and good body punching. But I can't look past Sergio.

This will be a dramatic fight because Sergio has always liked to take breaks during fights, usually a mid-rounds lull where his opponent comes on. But he always responds in the late rounds and takes over. He's getting older which runs the risk that any success Jnr has during that spell could spell disaster for the Argentinian.

In the opening rounds I expect it will be a boxing clinic. Chavez will plod forward behind the jab and get picked off, eating some tasty left hands for his trouble. He'll get some decent body shots and perhaps bloody the older man.

In the middle rounds, well behind on the cards, Chavez will have some real success as his opponent slows a bit and takes a few rounds off. That heavy jab will pick up points and mark Sergio up, and I can even see a flash knockdown if Sergio gets sloppy.

But, as he's shown in every fight, Sergio knows how to turn the heat up. He'll respond with his heaviest artillery and start to do real damage to Chavez, who has never been in with a fighter of his calibre.

I see either a clear 8-4 win (even if the cards give it to Julio) for Sergio, or a late stoppage for the sexy one.

Jesus christ half decent wins against rubio and lee and all of a sudden he's ready to beat the best middleweight in the game and by ko too, gtfo he couldnt stop zbik for **** sake.

sure martinez has'nt looked his best against macklin and barker (who are both better than chavez btw) but he looked sensational when it mattered against williams and pavlik, its not uncommon for fighters to fight poorly in bouts that there supposed to win but shine in the big defining matches

A while back I was confident Martinez would take this, but recently Chavez has looked solid and made some improvements, and of course there is this size factor which I might not always take into consideration, but I think it could be telling in this fight, we shall see, I cant call it.

1-2 years ago I would have had Sergio by KO.
But with Chavez coming in on the night at cruiser weight, I'm predicting he will walk through Sergio's shots and stop him.

I would love for Sergio to win though.

That's why I'm struggling with any picks for Chavez. Lee's nothing special. Rubio's a grinder (and decent, if overrated since beating Lemiuex). And many felt Zbik could have been given the fight.

Martinez, the angles, the speed, the timing. The kid's strong but is basic. People underestimate the ability of Barker and Macklin. Chavez took Lee out well, but was losing rounds to him and being hit with regularity.

Martinez will open him up, and dish out poetic judicial violence.

I'm not keen on Jnr, always comes across as the spoilt fat kid brat. Hopefully Martinez.
