Who's fighter has the most excuses done in history?

To be honest that was the best showing of his career, although at the time we all thought there was more improvement to come.

Truth is, even though he spruiks of being the second coming of Roy Jones, i think after that fight he knew he wasnt going to make it in the US, so he milked the naive Aus boxing public with his antics and made a fortune in doing it.

 

My view of Mundine was pretty much defined by none other than Chopper Read.
I remember him talking about Mundine in his book,saying that the boxer all of Oz was talking about was him,and I expected him to say he was good but he said AM couldn't punch his way out of a paper bag,so coomon sense went out the window for me after that.
Not very scientific,but I did like Chop Chop back then.

 

read the same book, chop chop knew more than the average punter by the sounds, although the last few years most have finally caught on.

 

Audley prob ranks pretty high on this list too. His latest being that he was injured against david haye

 

Mike Tyson for the Buster Douglas fight alone.
Much as I like him, Duran for some fights.

Tysons excuses for the Douglas fight are legit. Theres been numerous documentaries based on it. He was overconfident and sleeping around and clubbing until the early hours of the morning and he completley overlooked Douglas.

Even after the Holyfield/Douglas fight, Tyson stated he knew Holyfield would KO Douglas because Douglas was just a one hit wonder.

 

For me, it is Kelly Pavlik (post-Martinez fight). Even after the losses to Hopkins and Martinez, I still thought that Pavlik (the 2007 Fighter of the Year) had the potential to be great.

It's a shame that Pavlik became lazy after that fight. For some reason, he just does not want to do the little things that got him to that level of greatness in 2007. This can be seen in his backing out from several fights in the last couple of years, as well as his lack of desire to knock out Rosinsky in his last fight.

that is very true. if u look it up in google, they say oscar said it. oscar & floyd tried to defame pacquiao. u could see y he has a defamation suit against them

He wasnt shot. He wasnt what he once was (86-88), but he was still probably the best HW in the world.

He was shot at the Botha fight.

He was still in his prime when he lost to Douglas, however i think hed lost a few steps since 88.

He was in his prime, but no longer at his peak.
