UFC fighter Dan Henderson would have been a brilliant boxer......Anyone else agree?

good yes. brilliant no.

 

If he would have been a good boxer he would be a boxer. He's in MMA because his boxing wasnt good enough. Must have been flawed. In terms of mma he is a good boxer.

MMA is not for peopl who suck at boxing, it's for people with a different and often broader background than boxers which are specialists more akin to taekwondo. I'm reasonably sure if a pro boxer insert any name (James Toney comes to mind) entered MMa they wouldn't be very succesful either. I guess than you could argue that boxing is for guys who had limited skill sets who couldn't grapple, sprawl, clinch, knee, takedown, elbow, kick effectively.

 

A lot of Brazilians are doing mma cause it's big over there. No one really cares for boxing over there.

 

Nope too wide open no boxing skill he has heart, great boxer for mma but not for boxing.

 

Henderson is the son of a wrestling coach and grew up wrestling, competed in wrestling even going so far as the Olympics. I think DH punches harder than many boxers and has a good mind for fighting, he could have done very well in boxing had he grown up on canvas instead of on a wrestling mat.

Hendersons background is in Greco Roman wrestling, he didn't take up boxing training until he started MMA. He does have 2 fantastic attributes which would have stood him in very good stead if he had began boxing at an early age and that is a freakishly powerful right hand and one of the best chins I've ever seen.
