I think it's more a case of having seen the absolute arsehole of the sport and all it's stinky debris sickening him as time went on. There was a time where he was a voracious student of the game.
He loved it at one time. you dont watch that much film as a teen an not love it. I think his career didnt end up how he wanted, got fed up with leeches an lost love for it.
Of course. Its just when you make it to the Mountain Top, you have nowhere else to go, and lose intrest.
Tyson may of been the most precocious student of HW Boxing history, to ever win the title himself. He under-stands the game, always has and always will, but he's seen the ugliest side of Boxing, and through that, the ugliest side of himself. As a result, he maintains a fair distance.
Loved it when he was young, but not really anymore. He has moments where he gets really fired up (see his reaction to Judah beating Mabuzza) but it's not generally like that. It's kind of like an ex that you kinda want to **** when you see her, but there isn't enough money in the world to get you to go out with her again. Besides, there are only so many things that you love to do at 14 and still love at 46. Especially if you've spent as much of your time constantly doing it, preparing for it, being asked about it, seeing the dark side of it, and so and and so forth like Tyson has with boxing.
Recently there was a video of Mike talking to MMA fighters and Mike said "I'm still a boxing guy." Tyson still goes to fights and still keeps up with it. He is just sick of being asked the same dumb questions like "who hit you the hardest?" "what do you think about Klitschko?"
That was his life... of course he loved it. He adored it. He just got ****ed by the business aspects of boxing (Don King).
Exactly. It's understandable and probably healthiest for him. He still regularly attends high-profile matches though, and is definitely one of the most educated historians around period, let alone among fighters. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yPtq7POYQUU[/ame]
