I dont understand why everyones giving this kid a tough time, when you first start Boxing, for 90% of people, it takes time to learn how to take punches, the feeling of your head snapping back, and your lights going out for a couple seconds. The chin is probably 80% mental and defense, you just got to practice keeping your chin tucked into your chest, and bringing your hands back quicker. When you go into the fight or sparring, you got to tell yourself your going to get hit, thats just part of the game.

Dont worry buddy, with time you will get used to getting hit, it happends to everyone, just keep sparring and improving your defense, eventually it will all work out, your just going through a tough time in the early stages of trainer, we all been there before.

I wasnt taking about you buddy, I was taking about the poster that thinks he should quit Boxing because he's having a hard time taking punches in sparring. I dont think anyone should be telling him to quit or think about another sport, being good at something takes time and practice, everyone has at least one or two parts of there fight game that needs work, for me it was my stamina and footwork, for him it seems his chin is his weakest link at the moment, which is probably just a combination of his mental outlook and his defense, which can be improved over time, especially if he's just starting out in Boxing.

Yes, dont get me wrong, a strong chin is strongly needed in Boxing, but with practice and proper training, your chin will improve through good defense and more sparring. No one likes to get hit, but in Boxing it's inevitable, so you better get used to it. As I explained in a earlier post, there are methods to improve the chances of not being caught on the chin, but they need to be done alot, so it becomes second nature to you. Having a big neck helps only so much, good defense and mental strength is the most important aspects to having a good chin.
