Holmes, Whitaker, Quartey are my favorites. Hagler and Liston had those hard, snappy, smash your face in jabs. Lots of others like Ali, Wlad, Hearns, Monzon, etc.
Anyone would have a problem if I say......Vernon Forrest ?? I always liked his jab...awesome weapon to set up his rights..
Nope, there's no problem with acknowledging that Vernon had an excellent jab. If anything I'm wishing that I had remembered to put him on the list in my previous post.
I dont know everyone that McGrain posted, I ll have to check them out. I think Oscar De La Hoya had a phenomenal jab, when he chose to use it. Louis, Lewis, Wlad, Bowe, Hearns, Holmes. Who do you think had the best jab at lightweight and below?
Best I've seen at lightweight or below is Whitaker. He's also one of the few guys I've seen who can pump out a hard, authoritative jab in the middle of stepping backwards. Note that I don't mean throw a hard jab and step back, not step back and then throw a hard jab as your feet are under you, I mean throw a hard jab in mid motion.
Ike Quartery's was fantastic and got him almost everywhere he went. Rocky Marciano. 49-0. Can't get much better than that.
