Which victory do you think was the most impressive of the two? Frazier UD15 Ali or Duran UD15 Leonard?

Duran-Leonard. Ray didn't have a 3 year span of inactivity and Duran had jumped up a weight class. It's also just the flat out more impressive performance, which is saying quite a bit.

Duran over Leonard. If Frazier had beat Ali when he was at a similar stage in his career that Leonard was when Duran beat him, then it would've been more impressive.

Duran over Leonard is arguably the best victory in boxing history.

Where do you rate Leonard's revenge?

Not that high.. It was a good win no doubt, but clearly Duran wasn't the same fighter and clearly leonard.. by his own admission set up the fight when he did.. knowing duran would be out of shape.

I didn't really know that. I read in ring magazine that
Duran overate the day of the fight. So do you
think both in great shape Duran would have always beaten
Leonard at welter? Did Leonard brawl a little too much
in the first fight, or was that a result of Duran's
pressure? How high do you rate Hearns's win over
Duran? I Know it was at 154, but it must have
been a little shocking at the time that Hearns
    bombed Duran out so early.

In a pure boxing sense, Duran over Leonard, because Duran was a legend who had moved up in weight and Leonard was an undefeated champion and one hell of a talent. Both guys were at the top of their game. In that sense Ali-Frazier is slightly off as a previous poster said, owing to Ali's lengthy layoff. Still, Ali was undefeated and a larger than life character and fighter, so it was an amazing win for Frazier.

In terms of the meaning of the fight and the largeness of the event, with two undefeated champions, both wonderful fighters, plus all the social and cultural issues swarming about, and it being a larger than life event, then Ali-Frazier blows it away. Not to mention that it was a heck of a fight too. Both were wonderful fights. There was perhaps more sheer brutality to the Frazier bout, with both men suffering badly as a result. So perhaps the Frazier fight itself was better.

Maybe overall we call it a draw.

    Frazier over Ali.

The only reason Duran beat Leonard was due to Leonard fighting Duran's fight. It was also a very close fight.

Frazier did not have the benifit of Ali fighting his fight. He had to earn his win. Unlike Duran's win over Leonard. It wasn't given to Frazier.

Frazier over Ali..it tops Duran-Leonard both as a fight and in it's significance as well. The FOTC was a force of nature..and to Frazier's eternal glory, he won the hell out of that event. he was almost superhuman and would have beaten any version of Ali IMO with the form he showed that night.

Frazier beating Ali was the better win.

Nope. Leonard was in his prime and one of the top two welterweights ever and Duran stepped up a weight class to defeat him. Frazier beat Ali in the same weight class and out of his prime.

Seems fair. I find questions like this personally difficult, because it's tough to gauge the pre-fight atmosphere as someone who only saw these fights long after they happened. I mean it's not easy to get a firm grasp on the pre-fight conditions with the advantage of hindsight.

I'd be inclined to say Duran over Leonard myself, but I'm far more comfortable answering these types of questions when I actually followed the build-up for the fights in question.
