Looking at your avatar there's not a hint of irony in your statement though. lol Jones already fought and beat the best of the young guns at LHW if you take into account Hamill, Bader and Rashad ****ing Evans. So to give him credit - he is fighting the best around. Belfort is a former champion and even a UFC tournament winner which is something even Jon Jones will never be. Belfort is still on a tear showing KO power and speed. He is still a threat to anyone. If Jon Jones doesn't take him serious then he might find himself on the receiving end of a vicious KO combination. Go Belfort.
The guy was around before Chuck, Couture and Ortiz that has to have some effect on his body at this point but he is a really up and down fighter it will be interesting to see how he does against Jones

My point is this ?? what are the alternatives ?? , team Jones have made it clear they dont like Sonnen without a full camp. Machida refused the fight citing the same reason Belfort has momentum and has stepped up to the plate, yes he goes in an underdog but its not a Sliva Irwin scenario is it ?? Belfort can knock him out, just like he could have knocked out Silva, he's a ferocious puncher with genuine elite level (for MMA) boxing, personally myself i think its a very creative match given the circumstances Belfort will probably be controlled at distance and ground and pounded out inside 3 rounds, but i still like the match, once again " given the circumstances "
I went with Shogun but obviously knew the risks involved being that Shogun has no gas !!! My theory was that Shogun would clip him and hurt him before Jones had the chance to effectively drag Shogun down and hurt him on top Shogun has a beautiful butterfly guard and sweeps really well, i envisaged this being enough to nullify Jones's top game as long as he had gas in the tank (Shogun), the way the fight unravelled announced Jones as a wrestler / striker who was now on his way to becoming elite
No **** sherlock.....And it's not just Belfort... The real problem is ufc's competition itself. Like i said earlier , none of their champs have a serious nemesis. Not St Pierre (no disrespect to Penn) , or Anderson , Jones , Junior.... They rarely do anyway. (in almost all eras). Champs are rarely ever tested. You can see this in tennis. (Federer vs Nadal for ex) but there's no such thing in mma. or Boxing...And when there is.... Promoters will do their best to avoid the risky fights. Sometimes it's like a gamble...But most of the time , it's very calculated. That's why fights like Mayweather vs Pacquiao take forever to get organised. There's exceptions every now and then...(Maybe Klitschko vs Haye or Froch vs Ward or Kessler)... But in mma's case. And UFC's in particular. There's very little competition in their divisions. The Benson Henderson vs Frankie Edgar duo is a good example of real competition. (too bad one of them was robbed in the rematch) but at least the champ is forced to be cautious at all times... But there's no such rivalry as nadal & federer or Novak & federer in mma...I can think of some of them in K1 & boxing..But they're quite rare. and Anderson vs Sonnen doesn't qualify. (Sonnen is a roided big mouth choker...)

This is so silly that I have to query whether you actually possess a pair of eyeballs. Can you seriously not see the difference between the young, fresh, dynamic Shogun of Pride, and the heavy-legged, flat-footed, worn down version of the last year or two in the UFC? Are you just denying reality, or are you actually blind? Even someone who detests Shogun should still be able to see that he is a declined fighter now, of course he is. He's older, and has been in many wars and taken a lot of punishment. Do you think Rampage is still as good as he was in Pride? Do you think Matt Hughes is still as good as he was in the same timeframe, only in the UFC? This viewpoint is ****ing nonsense! :nut
:huh Competition in the UFC is a problem... WTF is this guy on?!?? At heavyweight, Junior has the Cain rematch (which will be a war), then Cormier and Overeem waiting in the wings, possibly Werdum too, all highly dangerous and legit challengers. If Cain beats Junior, expect a trilogy decider. If Junior beats Cain again, Cormier is a MASSIVE threat to JDS. At light-heavyweight, Jones will eventually have to face Hendo and a Machida rematch, both of which are dangerous. If Bones does as we all expect him to and wins both, he then faces a spectacularly dangerous career fighting naturally bigger men at hw, only adding to the picture detailed in the last paragraph. And when that happens, the 205 scene is thrown wide open again, competition will be fierce with guys like Gustafsson, Glover and Davis challenging the old guard of Rashad, Rua, Nogueria, etc. At middleweight, Anderson will probably end his career by facing a stylistic nightmare (Weidman) and a superfight with GSP. Outwith those options, the division is absolutely stacked full of quality fighters, that I won't even bother listing. Once Anderson retires, this division will explode. Machida could easily move down, Belfort will be back here, as may Sonnen. At welterweight, GSP has to face the interim champion in his first fight back, which is a difficult stylistic match for him, Condit's striking could prove tricky for Georges. Once he gets through that, Nick Diaz may be back and making noise, continuing their high-profile rivalry. There's a number 1 contender fight happening shortly between Johny Hendricks and Martin Kampmann, both of whom have achieved some great wins of late. In particular, Hendricks has the style and attributes to be a real test for GSP (if he beats Condit). And then of course, there's the Rory MacDonald issue. Lightweight: stacked as hell, no need to even go into this one. Featherweight: Aldo-Edgar could easily become one of the all-time great UFC rivalries, like Chuck-Randy or GSP-Penn. Bantamweight: All serious fans of MMA are eagerly awaiting the return of Cruz so we can see him fight Barao, that's a thrilling fight in prospect between two elite talents. If Cruz wins, we get a trilogy-decider with Faber. Flyweight: Young division without a clear number 1. I expect Benavidez to take control, but he is not a flyweight Fedor, could easily be toppled by a number of the talented challengers down there. I dunno what sport you've been watching. Competition is fierce, and big rivalries are there, some great ones in prospect. :deal
