How good is Sergio Martinez's chin?

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by Indio-Bandido, Aug 27, 2012.

  1. I don't think it's that good. Margarito knocked him down and so did Paul "The Punisher" Williams. I think Chavez might actually be able to knock him out. I dont think Pavlik ever caught him flush. But then again Pavlik is pretty limited. More so than Chavez in my opinion.

Come Sept 15th, his glass jaw will shatter. Julio's hands are much stronger than whatever Martinez' pathetic jaw is made of. Chavez will beat the **** and steroids out of Maranina.

I think it's good. Pavlik, Williams, Barker, Macklin have hit him flush and I don';t think I ever saw him hurt.

But can he take it to the body? we'll see.

Ok, I understand Chavez has a chance to win. That I don't have a problem with and I actually agree. He can win this fight. What's so ****ing ridiculous is how people make him out to be an unstoppable monster all of a sudden. Based on what? Struggling against Zbik and knocking out a B fighter in Lee? FFS...he's not even anywhere near the top 10 P4P list. Show Martinez some more respect. If Chavez wins he can have all the credit he wants. Last I checked, the fight hasn't happened yet therefore he still isn't an elite.

  9. chavez has never been hurt. he's never been remotely close to being stopped and while he hasnt fought the very best, he's fought some pretty heavy handed fighters. i dont think his chin is ready to be cracked. he's unstoppable in that sense. he is however beatable. chavez doesnt fight like pavlik. he knows how to get inside and he covers up pretty well. if he can land a few hard punches he might be able to rock martinez. margarito knocked martinez down with what looked like a relatively weak punch. and martinez was hurt.

  10. bro, williams knocked him down. it wasnt a slip, he actually went down.

He was knocked down by pavlik and williams, but they were because of balance, he wasn't hurt at all. His only true knockdown was against margarito, which was 12 years ago, and we have to consider the plaster wraps.

Williams must have ,at least, stunned him once with all the punches that were landed in their first fight...

When given a chance to use that as an excuse for getting stopped by Margarito, Martinez said, "he beat me fair and square, if he's used plaster, he did'nt against me!"

    .......so end your nonsense!:deal

End of round 4 in that one was the worst I've seen him hurt since he came to the US, but it's not like he was on chicken legs or anything.

Margarito fight was a long time ago. And Williams knocked him down only because Martinez showed him the back of his head. I can't recall seeing him wobble or hurt badly since coming to the US.
