Keeping his training intact, Marciano on a healthier diet of lean meat and complex carbs would be even more of a beast.

Training hasn't improved over the years but we know a hell of alot more about dieting.

    Potatoes are complex carbs.
And the leanness of a steak depends on the cut. :good

Marciano is underated often. The guy at 185 pounds had enough power to KO guys who were as heavy as Klitschko and he did. A few of Marciano's opponents were 250 pounds.
That's pretty damn strong. If Marciano fought today he would be the same size as Tyson was in 1986. So Tyson vs Marciano is a tough one. Maricano is dangerous from round 1-12 (or 1-15)
Tyson was a 5 round KO artist. I can see Marciano getting up off the deck and KO Mike Late.

Potatoes can be labelled complex carbs but really act like simple carbs. Definetly not the best way to go. You would be better off with whole weat and whole grain products.

red meat can be cut lean, but you won't get the benefits you would from eating larger portions of white meat.

Marciano's steak/potato diet obviously worked for him, but I think he could do better. In my humble opinion lol hard to criticize one of the best conditioned ever but I think his diet was still lacking.

Big is one thing. Good and big is another. The old truism remains that a good big man beats a good small man. None of the bigger fighters Marciano fought were any good at all.

Marciano was not a big of frame as Tyson. He was shorter limbed, slope shouldered and not as deep in the chest. He would be a bowling ball at 218. Furthermore, putting 20 pounds on Marciano would make him an inferior fighter, effecting his work rate, flexibility (remember how far he bent at the waist to make a smaller target) and his stamina.

Like I said, nutrition is overrated.
I've competed in strength sport and endurance sports, and whether i eat whole grain rice and tuna or steak and potatoes it doesn't make the blindest bit of difference.
The training and the recovery is the key. Diet is very secondary.
I have a brother who is highly qualified and well-read in sports science and nutrition, and also an experienced trainer, and he's come to agree with me. The body thrives on all sorts of good food.
There's an industry in making things out to be more complicated than they are. Lots of bad science.

This is my take on it anyway.

Rocky trained hard and he ate well. He was a ****ing beast in the ring and in training. A whole wheat diet is unlikely to make any sort of difference in the maelstrom of such ferocious factors.

    IMHO. :good

Exact opposite experience personally, to each their own.

Have you seen Mike Tyson's physique when he was 15 years old in his interview with Cus D Amato?Mike was just a naturally much bigger man than Marciano. As for steroids,I believed Tyson was only tested positive in the Golota fight, and that was positive for weeds.

That's what I'm trying to point out.Rocky's style depends highly on his stamina and his work rate.Take that away from Rocky by adding 20lbs-30lbs of muscle,he would be just a sitting duck with power against the naturally 215lbs Mike Tyson.

I think a 185 pound Rocky Marciano would give any man in history a tough fight. The man was a tough, stubborn, vicious punching machine, with a great chin and an iron will.
Regardless of height and weight, Marciano would be a serious match for anyone.

First I'd like to start off by saying that if what Suzie Q, and I hope I got the name right, is saying about you reffering to one of the Petronelli brothers as a shitty trainer is in the least bit true that was pretty low. Both brothers representing and fighting for this country as W.W.II veterans and then coming home to open up a gym in the Brockton, region to take kids off the streets and then going on to both manage and train a goldmine in one of boxings all time greats/greatest Middleweight Champion of all time Marvelous Marvin Hagler is not shitty.

Secondly I have to totally disagree with your quote/theory on this one. A fight between Rocky Marciano vs Mike Tyson would not end in a first round knockout, period. And as far as Marciano coming out of this fight with a win against a primed Tyson is concerned, I honestly believe that Marciano's raw/explosive power of 185lbs, small by todays heavyweight standards or even by the 1970's, 80's and 90's standards, versus Tyson's sheer raw power and speed of 215lbs would be too much for Rocky to overcome muchless register a win over.

Tyson by a late knockout or a hard fought 15-round majority or unanimous decision.

:good The Petronellis were clearly not "shitty trainers".

I can't imagine in what context McGrain would have said that. But it's very wrong and very ignorant.

But, you know, there's a lot of BS spoken about trainers generally. Guys who trained fighters from scratch and stay loyal and concentrate on their local area are just not respected. It's bizzare.

Any sub 200 pounder would be an underdog to Rocky imo. Tunney probably presents his toughest challenge.

Once you climb above that and get into natural hw territory more and more guys would be favoured over him.

He would lose 10/10 to tyson imo.

I love how Tysons heart is held against him in fantasy match ups yet he was almost invariably carried off on his shield after taking a beating.

He won two slugfests against Razor Ruddock and dropped Douglas even though he was taking severe punishment.
