Nah...it just means you don't know your boxing. Felix is almost a Myth in Cuban HW boxing. He's the greatest HW boxer never to turn pro. He was a monster in the AM and his potential was limitless. He had all the physical attributes and skills to match.
It was in 1991 and Tua was 19. Felix Savon was 24 at the time. Talk about a man vs a boy right? Debunked myth right there.
atsch This fight was at the 1991 World Amateur Championships. At this time Tua was 19 years old and Savon 23 years old. 4 YEARS DIFFERENCE What the hell are you talking about?
It's known fact that Samoans reach puberty at a much later age. Tua's testicles hadn't even dropped at that age...
being 19 agasint a 24 yr old doens't mean anything. You see guys like Valero and Juan Diaz going in there against grown men...early 30's and they're KOing guys. Myth still in tact
"That was amateur legend Felix Savon and savon had aroud 30 y ....." "It was in 1991 and Tua was 19. Felix Savon was 24 at the time....." "At this time Tua was 19 years old and Savon 23 years old ....." Guys stop, this is the best aging treatment ever, Savon will be 15 if this thread continue for the next 3 pages.
Anyone who says Tua has a glass jaw is an idiot. Some of the people on here I swear don't know crap about boxing. He was a young man fighting a man, and he got stopped, it happens. Im sure the guy he was fighting probably had at least 200 fights seeing that he was a 30 year old cuban amatuer. And, Tua has never been stopped in the pros in over 40 fights with smaller gloves, so that goes to show you live and you learn.
Ok, lets get the numbers. The fight between David Tua and Felix Savon was the semifinal in the heavyweight division of the World Amateur Championships which were staged in November 1991 in Sydney, Australia. Felix Savon was born September 22, 1967 so he had just turned 24 at that time. And to adress this bull**** about Tua being a boy fighting men: Savon himself won his first senior Amateur World Championship in May 1986 at age 18. Wladimir Klitschko won the Superheavyweight Gold medal in 1996 at the age of 20.
