Lived in Vegas for years, ran into a bunch, most of which I already posted about. Biggest dick head was Ishe smith. Nicest were Brian Villoria and Jameel Macline, who was a super friendly guy who came over and introduced himself to me when he saw me looking at him like, I know that guy from somewhere ...

Kept running into Floyd at 24 hour fitness with ellerbe and Hassim Rachman, and talked to him there. Saw him training with a light heavyweight journeyman named Carl Cockerham at my boxing gym before he opened up his own gym. Also sat in front of him at Jet Li's movie Unchained in the Orleans theater, he talked to my work out partner and I quite a bit. Most of his workouts that I saw were cardio/basketball stuff, never saw him touch a weight even at 24 hour fitness.

Saw Winky Wright training for his fight with Jermain Taylor, got to see his sparring, hits way way harder than I anticipated, his jab was knocking back some huge cruiserweight guys. He was not as big as I thought he would be, maybe an inch taller than me and with chicken legs.

Saw Sam Peters training for the second fight with Toney at the same gym, and ran into Ruiz right before he went over to fight Valuev, he was pretty nice.

Derrick harmon is the professional fighter I've talked to the most, and he is mostly cool. My workout partner used to spar with him quite a bit, but Derrick would take it easy on him unless he was in a bad mood. He insists Glenn Johnson got twice as strong as he used to be late in his career, because he claims that his pro fight with him was easy and later in sparring Glenn was knocking him around with two or more times the punching power.

Sparred Augie Sanchez a long time ago. Not one of the best experiences of my life.

If you hang out in boxing gyms in Vegas you will meet all these guys. Ran into Wreckless Willie Chapman when he was working at sports authority and Duncan Dokiwari who was super huge and super nice when he was a bouncer at one of the night clubs in Vegas (Pure in Cesears Palace, I think).

There are more but I have probably had the most meaningful interactions with viloria, Floyd, Jameel MacCline, and Derrick Harmon, all of whom I like.

ps - rachman trained like a weightlifter, ridiculously strong guy, strongest in the gym easily; I think the strongest person I've ever seen in real life.

I never met him, but Carmen Basilio and his trainers were friends with my grandfather, who lived in ithaca, New York. My dad (71 years old now) would go stay with Joe Nitro and train with Basilio's team and sometimes Carmen himself when he was a kid.

oh crap! I forgot. When I was working in my ex-wife's circus, the family was partners with mero mero Paez, who was staying in a little trailer next to my RV. I talked to him a few times. He sounded pretty punchy, but my spanish was bad then.

Her family was also friends with Chavez Sr so there are pictures of her as a little girl giving Chavez a kiss in between rounds when he is sparring and stuff. When I saw those pictures I was like wow awesome.

Rahman had biceps like a MFer, I always knew his power was underated.

For some reason I always imagined Rahman not being a polite person if you were to meet him, can you shed any more on him?

I actually only ran into him at the weight lifting gym, never in a boxing gym, so we said hi but I never had any lengthy interaction with each other. He was always training with Ellerbe. He was friendly enough to the guys around there, but not very outgoing. Kind of quiet. I didn't even shake his hand - so I guess even Ruiz was a bit more social than Rachman. But watching him lift is pretty crazy, his leg strength is epic, too.

Floyd is more approachable for sure.

This was 2 days before the DLH fight and he had this puzzled look on his face like he was lost. He was walking alone real casual. If you didn't know who he was you'd think he's a tourist or something . Also saw Antwan Echols the other day

Like this.I think Steve Bunce said something similar on his show, about Dillian talking to people after his fights. He comes across as a nice lad anyway but also is furthering his career and being professional.
A scenario in future could be:Dillian a bit further up the ratings and topping a bill near wallworkjake. I bet Jake much more likely to buy a ticket than if he had been an ignorant so and so.The lad deserves to do well.

For a while I thought I was getting pretty good; my hand speed was always great and I was starting to put it on everyone near my size who was an amateur at the gym (at that time 126-130 lbs). I was a bit taller than him, but even his "touches" were discouragingly hurtful, and he was taking it easy. Really heavy handed and ridiculously sharp, could have gotten a knock out pretty much whenever he wanted.

Plus it's just very discouraging to be completely completely ineffective when one guy is giving it everything he has and the other guy isn't really paying attention. Even with head gear and big gloves he could have stopped me the first round. I've sparred mediocre 180 pound guys and never been damaged or off balance like that, and he really wasn't trying hard.
