Could Joe Calzaghe still be undefeated if he fought Roy Jones Jr's opponents?

I can score a fight. All Hopkins did was hold, clinch, grab, wrestle, and fake low blows. He threw one punch at a time then came in with his head and tried to clinch. Same **** he did against Dawson. Can't score rounds for a guy when that is all he does. Sorry.

Hopkins was scared to fight Calzaghe straight up without his spoiling tactics. Hopkins ruined what should have been a great fight. It was awful and painful to watch.

my thoughts on Hop-Cal are that Cal scraped the fight through workrate over 12 rounds, though if it had been a shorter fight, Bhop would have had it.

As for deserving the decision, Calzahe didnt deserve the decision, no. He;d been made to look amateur by a 40something, and had to rely on the old man gassing in order to win - goodness how humiliating was that. But Bernard deserved the decision EVEN LESS than Cal for even showing up at 40something, for spoiling and faking... so Cal gets the decision by default.

Bernard gets the morale victory for sure, taking on and nearly beating a postprime champ when he should have been long time retired.

I know I say this a lot but I wish Zaghes hadnt taken this fight and the Jones fight. He was made to look so crap and cowardly and he ruined his legacy with these big paydays that exposed him.

Hopkins had a Thyroid issue that wasn't being treated during the time of the Wright and Calzaghe fights. Why he looked gassed in both. He didn't have that issue for the Tarver, Ornealas, Pascal, or Dawson fights. That being said, he gave Calzaghe far too much respect. He was walking through Calzaghe's shots late, and if he could do it while gassed, he should have been on Calzaghe's arse early in the fight. It was clear that Calzaghe couldn't really take his power. Not only did he knock him down. He buckled or wobbled Calzaghe three or four other times during the fight, and didn't seem to realize it. I thought Hopkins edged it when I first watched it. I didn't think it was a robbery until I video analyzed the fight though, and saw that Calzaghe wasn't landing hardly a thing. How boxing goes though.

 

Did anybody give Hopkins a round after round 4? If you did, you need a check up from the neck up. Easiest fight ever to score.

Whether Calzaghe was slapping or not, between rounds 5-12 Hopkins simply did not do enough to win the rounds.

Well Felix, Calzaghe didnt have Roy's accuracy, reactions, or speed of hand so he wouldnt be able to win in the same manner that Roy did. He cant jump in and out fast enough. He'd have to rely on his chin and recovery ability to try and soak up Toney's pressure. It would be a bloody war for him to a level he's never been tested to, but he'd have a chance at SMW for sure, but not the better chance.
