i see a lot of my fellow uk fight fans are going for haye . while i think haye is the more talented fighter , and persoannly i want him to win, i think a calm macranneli with a game plan could beat him. i do not like what team haye has been saying to the press "i will ko maccranelli with the jab" "he is no threat i will blow him away" etc etc this could happen, but also i see it as a negative for haye. trying to live up to his boasts he could fight sloppy/make many mistakes and macranelli has great power in his left hook and uppercut and haye will be hurt if he walks onto them carelessly. i see haye coming out loose and relaxed loading up, but if he holds his left arm to low then macrannelli will time his jab v the non exsistent guard and a cautious jab and move approach from macrannelli ,waiting for haye mistakes to take his power shoits instead of initating could foil haye, give him few openings and allow macranneli to pile up points. a tight double arm guard/piston jab and decent leg movement will make this a hard fight for haye. no way you can just walk through macrannelli he hits hard as well, so i see this much more of a 50/50. hope i am wrong and haye shows real class to get his punches off and ko macranelli, but i can definatley see stratergy where macranneli is able to beat haye. he has the size/technique/power and is underated a lot because of his ko loss when he was 19. also there is the weight factor. despite haye looking in great shape , haye looks in the exact same shape at 220 plus in between fights and boiling down and big muscles makes you tired late in fights.
To be fair, Maccarinelli (and Enzo Calzaghe in particular) have also been running the usual "He's fought no-one, Macca will ruin him" etc hype job stuff as well. Both guys punch hard, both can go down, both can get back up...that's why it's such an interesting fight, and yes Macca does have a chance. Still backing Haye though, based on what he's actually done so far compared to what Enzo has achieved.
If Macc stays disciplined and textbook he could pul it off...he has enough technique, speed and power
his defense is crucial. he must fight a braithwaite/conservative type fight behind a jab /tight double arm guard and not make mistakes. haye always makes mistakes , but will be willing to take risks. a big haye overhand right to the temple might negate all the macranelli defense though as haye really does have brutal power.
Macranelli will have to fight a near perfect fight to win, it's possible, but not likely, i didn't wager on this because i put my greenbacks on Peter to KO Oleg..
Macca certainly has a chance, but the average boxing fan should get behind Haye, he's a better for the sport, a guy who'll make interesting fights happen.
Nonsense. it`s Wales v England, i`m Welsh so i`m not going to back an Englishman and vice versa Macca`s as good for the sport as much as Haye is.
With Warrens' track record I strongly disagree, Haye was lining up a fight with Rahman as his 2nd fight at heavy, that wouldn't happen with a Warren fighter. Under Warren, fighters like Lennox would've wasted huge portions of their careers, like Hatton and Calzaghe. With you being Welsh though, I don't have anything against you going for Macca :yep
