Even after his dominant performance against a game Proska, GGG is hardpressed to get a big fight anytime soon, as clearly most middleweight fighters don't want any part of him. But how about GGG vs Pirog finally happening after the unfortunate postponement.....I think if there are no other options for Golovkin then that fight would still make sense......both are champions and both still undefeated....:think
I don't know about "easy" exactly.. if the fight came to head, it'd be a tough one for GGG but I'd still firmly back him.
Gennady spoke in an interview on Ring and said he is not currently interested in Pirog, that it would be a setback (Sanchez agreed). Pirog was stripped of his WBO title, additionally coming back from a bad back injury later in the year, he'll more likely take a tune up than step in with someone like Golovkin. It's looking more and more that Golovkin will have to settle for figthts with Rubio and Macklin, and even step up and face Ward, before we get to see him with Martinez, Geale, and Pirog.
Pirog won't be an easy fight for any middelweight [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WquXe5iSQ3g&feature=related[/ame]
let's not forget Pirog isn't a glass jawed no defense or offense having pole, he can actually fight and is slick.
At the post fight press con Tom Loeffler said if Geale, Martinez/Chavez unifications weren't available then Pirog is still a possibility. If he doesn't get another titlist then former titlist Pirog who has been on HBO and is known by fans to be exciting would be more attractive for his reputation than any contender. Pirog won't be back from his injury for the December fight though. Thinking about this style matchup is always very intriguing. If there is ever talk of them fighting again i would love to share my breakdown of the fight and discuss it.
