If Manuel Charr knocks out Vitali, will it be a bigger upset than Tyson vs. Douglas?

probably not because tyson was considered to be in his prime, whereas vitali is not.

 

Mike Tyson at that point was considered to be invincible in a way almost no other boxer ever has been. Nothing will ever be more shocking.

 

Charr isn't winning, this was a hand picked fight to ensure that. He shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence as Douglas. Buster had skills and taken, Charr has NOTHING.

Vitali is at the tail end of his career, and was never considered the force Tyson was.

tyson was in his prime, 23 years old and 37-0 , maybe 38-0 and was knocking guys out in in devastating fashion , he wasnt 40 years old with 2 losses. 42-1 under dog . dont think charr is that far of a dog, but at least 15-1 i would think

No.....Douglas was a much better fighter than Charr is. i gave Douglas 1% chance to beat Tyson , I give Charr 5% . my prediction is Vitali tko 5 Charr.

Well it's true that Buster Douglas was a much more accomplished fighter than Manuel Charr, and on its own that would seem to make the upset smaller. However, the fact is that Tyson had much, much, much further to fall than Vitali ever did and that makes the upset much larger.

Then there's the fact that Vitali is in his forties now. If Charr somehow wins, they'll just say Vitali got old. Tyson was in his absolute prime when Douglas defeated him. So no, while huge, Charr TKO6 Vitali wouldn't be anywhere near the upset Douglas KO10 Tyson was.

 

No, but close. Wouldn't even be the biggest upset of the past couple years IMO (Pong vs Jaro).

 

Of course Tyson had a bigger fall, he accomplished more by age 23 than Vittles has his entire career.
