Personally, I think the IBF belt is the nicest...but who gives a ****...it's the man who makes the belt...if all the best fighters were WBO Champs...it wouldn't matter whether the belt looked crap or not; currently, most of the best fighters tend to be WBC Champs...but not everyone who has a WBC belt is the best in his division.

    Yep.

It's an old cliche but in most case the ring belt is the most valuable belt in terms of representing who most believe to the the champion.

Yeah...even though their rankings are ****, they get the best fighter in the division right, most of the time...but not always...LHW, for example, Dawson is better than Hopkins...he is the man.

    Disagree.

Dawson in my opinion will one day be the man...but he hasn't proven it yet with the competition he has fought....Adamek I never rated too highly.

Like it or not Hopkins beat Milk dud who was considered the best LHW around back in 2006.

I do agree however that generally their rankings are debatable outside of the top 3.

True...Dawson needs to beat Johnson (experience) and Diaconu (puncher) before he should be accepted as numero uno. Hopkins is the linear Champ, so I guess he deserves to be considered the man.

Of course, after the 19th of April, Calzaghe will be the man - he will have the ring belt. Dawson will be the man only once Calzaghe retires.

I think its terrible that someone loses so they instantly get called a bum. Enzo just lost to a better fighter. He's still better than most CW's out there and will be back to the top by the end of the year.

Anyone who gets in the ring and takes a risky fight deserves some respect IMO. If Enzo hadn't had taken the fight we never would have known for sure who was the best and most people wanted to see this fight. Its done now, and someone had to lose.

Or if he fights and beats him of course.

Thats one fight I don't want to see as a Calzaghe fan. Its by far the biggest risk imo and also one that has less reward than a victory over even Clinton Woods right now.

People always seem to dismiss Calzaghes wins over Lacy and even Kessler. Dawson falls into that category at the moment and even if he did beat Johnson..people would still dismiss it even if he beat Diaconu!

Erdei actually technically has the linear I believe. But hes been such a non-entity since he grabbed the WBO title and Dariuz's lineage with it that Ring don't have him as the champ. Rightfully so..I don't consider Foreman to be the champ from 1994-1997 thats for sure.

    Ah...ok...I didn't know about Erdei.

I don't think Calzaghe will face Dawson. But if he did, most Americans would say Dawson was a hype-job, if Calzaghe won...to most of them, only beating have-been legends seems to mean anything.:huh

Enzo was not "exposed". We always knew his chin was shaky and that he wasn't as good as Warren or him wanted the world to believe. I actually overrated Enzo because I put him in the Top 30 p4p. He isn't as good as that. Enzo is a good contender, but that's it, even if he gets another belt or two. He'll never be good enough to be Champion in the division.

i gave enzo loads of **** for not making the fight earlier....after he man'd up, I give kudos (like booth) for having the balls to get in the ring with Haye. But Enzo is a joke fighter compared to haye. Almost everyone on the official offficial poll backed haye because all they saw of enzo was a over protected warren fghter beating bums like bobby gunn, and shot to **** fighters like braithwaite, and they saw David actualy taking on tough challenges right the way through his career.

What i hated about this promotion, was the ranking of Enzo as the no 2 cruiser in the world, when he hadnt proved that at all. Credit enzo for taking his beating like a man, but can you see Enzo beating Mormeck of O'neil bell...he may regain his WBO but I cant see him unifying like haye or bell before him.

Only now for Rees to get his ass handed to him and Enxo "best trainer in the world" Calzaghe will be plain Enzo "thats Joe's Dad" Calzaghe.

Yep its weird. Its why I stay off the main forum.

In late 2006 on here there was grumblings that Calzaghe was ducking Kessler for wanting to fight Taylor. So he then fights and convincingly beats Kessler and gets little or no credit from those same people.

And yea the LHW division is ****ing strange. Has been since the days of RJJ. Sure RJJ was undisputed champion according to the media because he had the WBA, WBC, IBF and a whole host of minor titles. But Dariuz, who had been forced to vacate I believe a couple of those titles due to his loyalty to the WBO, had lineage because he had beaten 'the man' prior to that in Virgil Hill.

So while Jones did his thing claiming he was the undisputed champ..Dariuz had the lineage and did his and they never ****ing fought each other to sort it out once and for all. Dariuz lost to Gonzalez who then lost to Erdei..so Erdei became WBO and linear!

Jones doing his separate thing always being considered the man by major publications despite Dariuz having the lineage gets beat by Tarver who then after his fights with Johnson comes away as being the number 1 at LHW according to ring then Hopkins comes along and there we have it!

    A mess. A ****ing mess.

    Thanks for that.:good

To me linear means nothing if you don't beat the best at that time. You could be linear and beat someone who was the best, but no longer is. Belts mean nothing to me, not even the ring belt. I want to see the current best fighting...like Calzaghe and Kessler had the guts...If you are a good up and comer beating up have been names like Dawson or Bute are doing, for example, yeah, you gain experience and you become better known, but don't expect me to say you proved you are the best.

    Yes.

Dariuz looked good and beat good competition so he had his claim...though him and Jones really should have sorted it out.

But I believe Erdei has lost all claim with his shite. Mediocre defences coupled with two dodgy decisions in his favour do not inspire confidence. And I believe this is 4th year as WBO champ? Not good enough.

Totally agree that you need to be fighting and beating the best and proving your the champ. Foreman is another example. He wins linear and WBA and IBF in the mid 90s then proceeds to win a dodgy very dodgy decision over Schulz and then defends against Savarese etc for the next 3 years. No way he was champ during that period...on the basis of performances and the demise of Riddick Bowe I would have considered Tyson and then Holyfield the man during 95-96 despite Foreman having the linear distinction.

Fortunatly in that case Lewis cleaned it all up anyway. In regards to Dawson, I think he has all the tools, if slightly suspect whiskers to really dominate LHW(considering JC is near retirement). However he really does have to prove it...if he could dispose of Erdei that would be helpful.

Can't believe all this disrespect that Enzo is getting of some pricks on here.

Enzo is a good bloke who lost to the better fighter end of. He's certainly not a bum and I'd love to see some of you say that to his face. He never bad mouthed Haye up to the fight and gave him his respect afterwards (unlike Haye who really comes across as a cocky ****).
