Who was the bigger draw: Hatton or Naz Hamed

why ask a question and then answer it?

I would also agree Hatton but I would say Naz limited himself by being with ****** for so long also Hatton had bigger names to fight.

Hatton/Mayweather did something ridiculous like 1.3m PPV buys in the UK or something. that's ****ing crazy!

 

Most people in this country hated Naz and still do. :-( They went in the hope of seeing him lose. Naz was a big attraction because he was a character/KO artist and boxing was more mainstream in his time. He wouldn't be as big a draw in this climate. Whereas Hatton would be popular in any and without even appearing on terestrial television and mainly because of that football following.

Hamed still sold out MSG and Wembley stadium and MGM grand.

 

How many Brits travelled to Vegas for Hatton v Mayweather? Was it 15,000? Hatton could sell out the MGM alone... No Brit fighter has had the SUPPORT of Hatton. Dunno about biggest draw though as Hamed was very popular just not for the same reasons as Hatton.

 

All the "Hamed was hated" stuff that is thrown about now is bollocks. Watch the fights, the crowd cheered him in and cheered him out. He sold out arenas in Britain to thousands of fans who loved watching the show and the almost certain KO win.

He had thousands of Geordies cheering him in, he had Scots cheering him on...wherever he went he sold tickets and of course some hated him, but I remember being a teenager at the time and even none boxing fans at school and girls knew about Hamed and thought he was great.

It was before the whole Islam thing brought back racist sentiment towards Asians etc and most of the time he was KOing non British opponents so it made it easy for everyone to follow him.

Hatton was bigger in that he had a loyal fanbase and he was more widly liked in boxing circles, but Hamed was better known to people who didn't care for boxing at all. Or it was at least very close.

Hattons always come across as a nice fella who's always takin the **** out of himself. We love the underdog spirit he oozes.

Naz however was the total opposite. He came across as an arrogant cociwted spoilt child who was entitled to everything that came his way, in other words the kind of fighter the yanks love.

Naz was a great fighter, but I used to pray for someone to humiliate him, I couldnt stand him and still can't!

Ricky had the backing of the general public.

Naz was more of a sensation.

 

naz was different to ricky, people loved ricky for being genuine and the lad from next door type character

naz was a star, his fights were not boxing contests they were shows, and damn good shows too always had drama and excitement

naz was a way better talent and thats how they should be compared
