Sergio has been talking a lot during the build up of this fight, and its the first time he does it, do you guys think he really means it or its just to hype the fight and to get more PPVs? because honestly when he trash talks it doesnt seem like its flows out of him... he seems more like hes pushing it.
No he's been throwing barbs at Chavez for years, and I don't think you can necessarily disagree with them. Outside of this, he always seems a real respectful guy. Dedicating his fight to Forrest, never really bitched about being robbed..
He sees Chavez as a spoiled kid who didnt had to work half as hard as he did to get the things hes gotten and that somethings have been gifted to him due to him being the son of a legendary fighter who happens to be very close with the WBC main man, It took Martinez more than a decade to get the breaks he needed while Chavez has been spoon fed ever since he turned pro, i dont think he hates Chavez personally i dont see Sergio as being the kind of guy that would really hate somebody what he hates is the politics and the corruption surrounding boxing.
he's just another hater that has been proven wrong in the career of jr.... tell you what, if sergio really thinks tha low of jr, but at the same time says he wants to fight the best ONLY, then why fight a guy you think so low of ???? wouldn't that put martinez in the same bracket he's putting jr in ?? another thing, not even a year ago he held a conference saying that he will never rep the wbc again, only the ring....well, what happened there ?? he's been chasing that ring belt like a puppet, which ironically he's called jr a puppet.....if he was really interested in defending the ring, he would've gone after pirog and sturm, not the euro/brit bum tour he was on.....
Above all else, a point that people haven't really brought up....the WBC Middleweight title was Carlos Monzon's. Achieving that status was a big deal to Martinez as an Argentine and fan of Monzon. To have it stripped and given to the son of a Mexican legend by the likes of Sulaiman so undeservedly must have stung.
he should've done the right thing and defended it then....tv date or not, he if he was really a peoples champ, he would've done what was right....afterall, he does say he doesn't fight for money, only pride.....
Id say it was a mild dislike that has evolved into a near hatred , Sergio is a nice dude always pretty respectful towards his opposition, but in this case I really think he wants his recognition through Blood , Id hate to see the guy pissed off in the ring ...... or would I:toney
Martinez has beaten much tougher fighters and he is still getting less publicity and money than Jr. I can see why that bothers him.
I think its true Sergio hates him because his belt was taken away and gifted to Jr., and he had hard time going to the top while Jr had easy way...Martinez will ko him.
it's funny that you say martinez should have gone after sturm, but call macklin a bum. that's the same macklin that beat sturm clearly only to be ripped off by the judges. :think
on paper he lost....and it was a close fight, stop with the robbery **** my thing is this, martinez supposedly wants the best, and macklin was not the best...period !!! martinez could've chased around other fighters that would've given him more creds....what does jr got that martinez wants ??? he has called him a bum...a fake champ....a spoiled brat...and has also said he wants nothing to do with the WBC....so again, what's martinez after ????? he's already some crazy millionaire (supposedly), so he must not want money......even though he drives a chevy and lives with like 15 people
