who are the most intimidating/intense characters in boxing history?

you know, the ones who had opponents sharting their skants before the fight with their behaviour and evil aura! ive got tyson, liston, benn, hagler, ibeabuchi off the top of my head. any others?

Tough question.

I'd go for Hagler. He had this indestructable aura.... only there was no 'aura', he WAS indestructable.

Duran runs him close, he literally was a ****ing beast.

Guys like Hearns, Benn, Pryor, Tyson etc are a step below, because they were fallible in that respect.

probably Tyson and Hagler.

i know i said this on another thread ,but i was watching something on Hagler on youtube a while back. And in the video there was some guy from Nevada State Athletic Commission that was assigned to watch Haglers hands being wrapped for the Hearns fight. He said he had been in hundreds of fighters dressing rooms doing this and was never as intimated as he was when he was in Haglers room. He said Hagler looked like he would tear your head off, just like a caged beast.

Tyson had a certain sense of invincibility back in the mid 80's. I was only 6 when Tyson and Spinks fought, and i can honestly remember thinking, "if i was Spinks, i wouldnt fight Tyson, he's going to kill him"

even at 6 i could tell how amazing Tyson was.

The fact he slept in woods made him hard as nails and the pale skin really was intimidating.

 

ive also read big lennox was actually a pretty intense guy, took no ****, didnt suffer bull**** and used to smack around bullies when he was a kid etc! i remember watching clips of him talking to eubank and when he was listening to him talk you knew he was thinking ''this guys a ****ing clown'' going by the look on his face, maybe it was just me but thats what i seen watching it.

 

Maybe also Ricardo Mayorga- the man is one serious loose cannon. Of all boxers I can think of he is the one I would least like to spill a pint over by mistake in a pub. He loves fighting and doesnt give a sh1t about anything

 

I always thought that Steve Collins and Herbie Hide were a pretty mean pair, although I think Hide had a bully mentality and could not handle people standing up to him.

One of the fights that fell through that I am most disappointed about was the Hide and Danny Williams one.

It was a few years back, when Williams was still a threat and there was genuine animosity between them.

I remember kicking off at a press conference and Hide flipped a table over, I think it was over Williams saying he had knocked Hide out cold in sparring.
