calm down dear. it wasnt a really bad stoppage. fletch was ****ed with 30 secs of the round to go. the consensus on the general is the same.

The bell would have saved Fletch in that round. I think there was only 30 secs left. It did only stop the Saunders show though. It would have been a big turn around for Fletch to come up with some answers in the 3rd round and onwards. The commentators were pretty scathing on Fletch's walkout after saying how impressed they were with him pre fight.

"much faster" is possibly the most stupid thing i've read on ESB.

I wondered if this would be too big a step up for Fletcher.

This was too big a step up for Fletcher. Good on him for having a go and travelling to the UK but i thought he was gonna get stopped just not so quickly.

This sort of result really shows just how poor the standard is in Australia at Aussie Title/domestic level. Too huge a jump for poor Fletcher. Our Aussie Title is probably worse than most regional Southern Area titles in the UK.

Good point. It may be an idea for guys like Fletcher to relocate to more competitive arenas (UK, EURO, US etc.) or dramatically step up the quality of domestic Aussie competition (easier said then done i know).

Our title structure is tailor-made for failure. It's far too easy here to collect titles fighting poor opposition. Then the step up to world level is just too great.

It was a premature stoppage. In a lot of ways that did Fletcher a huge favour. He can whine about that for ages and people will end up saying he was cheated. When all it did was save him from a knockout in that round or the next. 30 seconds is a long long time when hurt.

Saunders though is a talent, some of you guys were acting he was slow. Some were saying he was wide open. He is I feel a natural fighter, great anticipation, good balance , nice combinations and power. I think he will go far.

Credit to Fletcher for taking the fight, how it panned out must have come as a shock as he looked genuinely confident beforehand.
