Bradley or Cotto, who is more skilled as a boxer?

Are you kidding?

 

Don't start overrating Cotto, I know he's a warrior and he took two huge beatings from two fighters who people suspect are cheaters, but let's be honest here, Cotto is an A level by this Era standards, as is Bradley, it's just that Bradley is a younger fighter, but he'll get his dues.... They are closer too being equal IMO, not necessarily in terms of style, but in terms of skill level.

Cotto. Although people should remember that Bradley is pretty good inside with his short punches, feints, head movement and work in the clinch. Bradley-Peterson is a good example of this.

 

Cotto. Cotto is versatile, can box well laterally or going backward, has solid timing and punch placement, can work the body, and fight inside quite well in addition to being able to box effectively from the outside. His defense doesn't totally suck, and he can clinch well too, as he did in the second Margarito fight.

Bradley basically is a sloppy Ward/Hopkins wannabe with a lot less skill with good stamina and toughness. However, his punching technique blows goats, he's pretty hittable, and he lacks solid timing or punch placement; he tries to get by on workrate, which has usually worked for him.

It was telling in their fights with Pacquiao that Pacquiao didn't overwhelm, neutralize, or best Cotto with his skills; his handspeed and power were just too much for Cotto and he brutalized him as a result, since this was still an aggressive brawler-esque Pacquiao, and Cotto tends to fare better in a more reasonably faced, tactical fight than a high-paced brawl.

Meanwhile, against Bradley, Bradley got most of his offense totally neutralized by Pacquiao. He made Manny look like a defensive wizard at times with all those sloppy arm punches getting slipped and countered, or simply falling short and hitting gloves. Bradley just had no answer for Pacquiao's underrated movement and counterpunching, which is saying something, because Pacquiao's only decent at best at those things and iit doesn't work when he tries to be a counterpuncher against even decent technicians. He just had to do that versus Bradley because he doesn't have the legs or the stamina he once did anymore, and can't fight in the same style he had against Cotto and others in the past.
