Yo! Started doing sprints now that ive joined a gym,but theyre a killer, and i still do 3-4 mile runs quite a bit. Theyre more enjoyable, do press ups on the way round and a bit of shadow boxing. Any one got anything they drop into their runs? :good

I do sprints by themselves, but I've seen guys do burpees/mountain climbers/pullups in between sets.

I usually just walk and sometimes do dynamic stretching while trying to recover. I find that I have a better time pushing the intensity if I recover fully in between sprints.

Ive been using football pitches to do my sprints, sprinting the half way line then joggin half way round the pitch, repeating this. Do u reckon i'd be better stretching rather than jogging the half way round the pitch after the sprint?:thumbsup

According to my trainer 5mins worth of sprints is the equivalent to a run, gets the blood pumping around the body and that amatuer boxing has moved on from 10 mile runs, however he says running long distance is good for making weight but once our at optimal just do the normal boxing training and sprints, personally i dont know whats better all confusing

I would say your trainer is pretty spot on with that.
