I know its pretty random and also a non oz topic but...... **** haye is a top fighter.Really looks the goods. And the power.... With his conditioning and power he is a real threat to all the title holders in the heavyweight division. I just cant get over his right hand. I seen maccarneli(spelling) fight twice when in uk and knew he wasnt that great so didnt really jump on the hype train for the bout. But 2nd round k.o... What do all you think about haye's chances as a heavy?? Hes 6ft3 and apparently is more suited for 220pounds(a weight i think heavies should be at) so adjusting shouldnt be too much of a problem.
he's not bad at all.. i think he ready to step in there with a top 5 heavie right now... he and Povtekin is one fight i would like to see...
His chin is the only thing that may hinder his chances at heavyweight. He is an exciting guy to watch though. It will be interesting to see whether he can be as dominant as a heavy.
His conditioning will actually be his problem I reckon. The only time he went 12 rounds he throw like 17 punches and he was out on his feet against Thompson after less than 5. He will rip through many fat and cumbersone heavies but he will get knocked out eventually, maybe against someone who isnt even that good. Definitely against someone like Wlad. Awesome, Awesome offensive fighter though. Amazing speed, power and explosivness for a guy his size, love watching the guy fight.
The HW division may lack that certain quality Haye has but some of them big boys dont go down on the first, second or even 100th right hand they cop and have plenty of energy to land their own. Just looking at him makes me think he is a little chinny.
Well he's the sort of guy that makes exciting fights, the lacklustre HW division needs someone like him at the moment.
Yeah David Haye is 1 of my favourite boxers to watch at the moment. He will definitely be quite a force at heavyweight. Will be hard for him to beat some of the top guys like Klitschko tho. At least u no he will be in exciting fights along the way. No complaints from me.
i think he will not go to well, holyfield had an amazing chin and stamina to overcome the size difference, at heavyweight his power will be normal compared to the top guys and his stmaina is already a weakness without the extra muscle
Hopefully he can get serious about his roadwork, word is that he doesn't like it much. I think he can be a great Heavyweight if he works on his defence and footwork to compensate for his seemingly shaky chin, he also seems to rely too much on his power in the fights i've seen, should work on some setup punches but i think he's going for the Roy Jones style so i don't think we'll see that too soon. Regardless it'll be good to see a heavyweight who is a great athlete and atleast looks the part.
That's true but Holyfield had to fight much better guys than the ones that are around now. People seem to think Klitschko is great but i don't see it, too mechanical and can be taken out. Who else is there, Peter? Getting fatter and worse as time goes on. There's the russians but they're undersized and lacking power. I really think Haye can dominate if he improves his stamina.
Wow I should read this forum more often, this is the most honest, nuthugger-free David Haye thread on ESB at the moment. Never believed in all my days I'd see Aussies debating in such a civil and restrained manner!! For what its worth I've been following David Haye's career since before he turned pro, and he always looked like he was going to be something special. He's looked like a champion in waiting since his first pro fight. He's probably the most naturally gifted offensive heavyweight since a Prime Ibeabuchi, Tua or, dare I say it, Tyson. He's never been in a boring fight, and I've seen everyone of 'em, and he's got great charm and charisma which could make him a star if he can back it up in the ring. I dont think he'll retire unbeaten, I can just see him being stopped with a single punch against some 250lbs Heavyweight, someone who takes all the Haye bombs and gets lucky in the 11th round when Haye's tired, but it will a thrilling ride regardless. On his night he could KO just about any heavyweight in the division.
I dont think Haye will amount to anything more than Audley Harrison in my view. He has a shitload of fights ahead of him before i will say he has a shot at being known as a good HW.
I don't know mate, he's improving and he's beaten some tough guys, i wouldn't call him Harrison. The guys that are gonna give him problems are technical boxers with good chins and i can't think of any at the moment. Guys like Solis in the amateurs who stopped him, that sort. But still you could argue that if that fight was a pro fight Solis would've been out from the Haye uppercut in the opening round, he was badly hurt.
