I though it was a very entertaining fight, mostly due to Maidana who is a good fighter who was seriously outsized but used his superior ability to overcome the disadvantage. JSK's stamina and chin were impressive. I don't think the stoppage was premature following that last right hand which was a ****in hayemaker and you could feel really shook JSK's core.

Actually, Maidana is who I would give the Knockout King bonus to, since his opponent was the hardest to stop of all 3.

Great fight, thought Maidana was losing heart, and losing faith in his power at the new weight, then he changes everything. Really good fight.

Maidana clearly the sharper operator in there, physically JSK was starting to wear him down before the KD.

There was gonna be a KO either way either from Maidana's bombs accumulating or JSK wearing Maidana down.

However one question this fight raised for the future is whether Maidana's chin will hold up at 147

There are plenty of threads but they got buried after martinez v chavez 12th round. Look in the second or third page.

Excellent fight. I thought Soto-Karass was going to wear him down the way it was going, but as always, Maidana has that big punch that he believes in from the first to the twelfth.

Maidana looks really small at welterweight, but he's straitening out his shots nicely and throwing shorter punches more often. He doesn't have the physical gifts and reflexes to ever be a good defender, but I like what Garcia is doing with him. If Bailey beats Alexander, I'd love to see that fight. Maidana-Malignaggi would be a nice scrap, too.

He can be a good defender against a slower handed fighter like Soto-Karass. He was being swarmed with shots and at times dipping and dodging quite impressively

Maidana is a better fighter now, his defense clearly is better nowadays.....

    Maidana used dirty tactics.

Maidana punched after the bell, pulled JSK's head down, punched below the belt.
This is why the ref took points away from Maidana (shouldn't have taken a point from JSK, cause JSK did NOTHING illegal).

Maidana's dirty/illegal tactics remind me of another Argentine fighter (Lucas Matthysse) that fought dirty against Humberto Soto.

Matthysses committed about 8 fouls against Soto.
Lucas pulled Soto's head down 4x, punched Soto to the back of the head 3x, and punched Soto 1x after the bell rang.

Maidana really impressed me last night. And what a fight that was.

For me, Maidana and Santa Cruz were the fighters of he night.

I was really impressed with Maidana's newly utilized skill set (consistent jab, much improved defense, better punching form). He was so used to being such a force @ 140 that he definitely needed to adjust his style to fight the heavier, more powerful guys at WW. I think he'll struggle with the better guys at 147, but he's making very positive progress.
