    HAve you guys heard about the NCBA? It's not affiliated with NCAA.
    Is it solid competition?

    Meh. That about sums it up. The best competition in amateur boxing in the US is within the ranking tournaments.

    solid is a little ambiguous. have you checked out the website?

    i just met with someone yesterday who who was talking to me about the college system. take a look at the rules. i have yet to but my understanding is this ...

    -must have less than ten comps (let's say you boxed as a kid, had 30 fights and want to box for UofM, you can't do it)
    -the military is part of this system, so there are guys who train full time for boxing like a pro while they're at their military schools and most of the other programs don't get that kind of gym time in
    -military don't have to record their comps between other military

    take a look at the website above, research it some and let me know what you find out about how "solid" it looks to you?

    ps. what school are you looking at?
