Meh. That about sums it up. The best competition in amateur boxing in the US is within the ranking tournaments.
solid is a little ambiguous. have you checked out the website? http://www.collegeboxing.org/ i just met with someone yesterday who who was talking to me about the college system. take a look at the rules. i have yet to but my understanding is this ... -must have less than ten comps (let's say you boxed as a kid, had 30 fights and want to box for UofM, you can't do it) -the military is part of this system, so there are guys who train full time for boxing like a pro while they're at their military schools and most of the other programs don't get that kind of gym time in -military don't have to record their comps between other military take a look at the website above, research it some and let me know what you find out about how "solid" it looks to you? ps. what school are you looking at?
