Floyd Pacquiao Martinez Marquez Wladamir Ward If you want to say "pac lost to bradley" fine, then Bradley is above Ward as he went up in weight to beat the P4P #1 Some of you don't seem to understand what P4P means, Wlad has been dominating and STOPPING guys for years before Ward came along so don't give me that malarky
Pac is below Marquez because he lost to him Pac is above Bradley because he beat him 95% of people rank Pac around 4 or 5 now, which if you follow proper logic is where he will be ranked on yours due to where you have placed Marquez
Fine, reshufle however you want it. Ward is suffering from flavour of the month syndrome, and of course he's American so automatically gets bumped up a few spots on this Forum. he might be top 5. P4P top 3 requires more than beating one three one dimensional fighters in your hometown, in your own weight class. Due to this being a VERY weak era in boxing, his achievements might scrape him into the number 4 spot but I cant put him any higher
1. Mayweather (95% of people will agree) 2. Marquez (3/4/5 titles in different weight classes depending on if you count interim and/or his victory over Pacquiao) 3. Sergio (2 weight champion, started 147 and recently dominated a cruiserweight) 4. Pacquiao (anyone else with a loss would be off these standings, but because he has went 106-145/147/150/154 depending on your view remains highly ranked) 5. Ward (Brilliant boxer, 2nd best in the world on talent, however hasn't left his weight class or beat anyone with a good P4P ranking)
lb for lb means irrespective of size and weight division who is the most skilled Wlads success is largely down to his size, though he is obviously skilled
Bika can make it awkward for an opponent no matter if they are dreadful or a p4p rated fighter, but come on. He was well past his best. I'll take everyone (except maybe Dzinziruk) on martinez's last 5 fights. Don't even get me started about Green, he should never have even been in the super six. So far out of his league. Abraham got beaten the **** out of for 12 rounds by Froch and couldn't get a round on the scorecards even from Germany. Past his best weight and one dimensional. He dominated Froch, fair play. This was a fantastic win Dawson was a good win, but the weight clearly had some effect on Chad. I'd much rather have the Williams win (in devastating fashion) against a p4p rated fighter at even terms on the weight class. You may well say Ward beat Kessler as well. Go back one more fight for Sergio and he beats Pavlik the undisputed middleweight champion. I think Ward would have won had it not been for the cut 116-112 style much like Sergio's win over Pavlik so I think you could argue an even playing field here as Kessler was the bigger scalp IMO, but the win wasn't what Ward would have wanted. I personally think it's clear, fairly close, but nevertheless clear that Martinez opposition and the way he has beat his opposition puts him ahead of Andre. You can pick holes in Martinez last 5/6 fights, but not as many as Ward. Macklin has lost a few sure, but he beat Felix Sturm (or at least should have), the second best middleweight at the time. Barker may have been untested, but proved he was a great fighter with his performance against Sergio himself.
#1 Floyd #2 Marquez #3 Martinez #4 Ward #5 Nonito #6 Bradley #7 Pacquiao #8 Wlad #9 Gamboa #10 Nishioka/Viloria/Salido
I'm a floyd fan but what has he done recently? The man is clearly the best but he needs to be bump back a spot and give way for S.O.G 1. Ward 2. Floyd 3. donaire 4. martinez 5. Vlad 6. Jmm 7. Pac 8. Bradley
Ward has a crazy resume for a fighter under 30 fights, forch, abraham, dawson, and kessler the same kessler who many here regard as calzaghe's best win, the one that made calzaghe p4p#2 a few years back. And yet people here still think he doesn't deserve it?
It was a great win but at that point, I regarded dawson in a higher standing p4p with beating hopkins.
So going up a division to beat the consensus 154 champ, who had looked improved in his last win and was full of confidence Is inferior to beating an old, old Hopkins? Come on man
Ward can be argued for number 1, let alone 2. What he did in the super 6 was just beyond spectacular. He beat all those champions and then beat Dawson, even though I'm in the "he was weight drained" crowed". Still, I'm not sure if i ever seen quality wins that were so close together like that. Kessler, Bika, Froch, Dawson, Abraham?? Doesn't get any better than that. I wouldn't argue with anyone who wants to consider him number 1, especially since Manny and Floyd are only fighting like once a year. They need to quit hovering them over the number 1 spot and give it to the more deserving, active boxers like Martinez or Ward.
that old hopkins was still a top p4p fighter during that time, and if I recall correctly higher than cotto at the time. Now its cool if people think floyd is still number 1, can't argue with that as I'm a fan of him before ward but I just think ward stole that spot with his win and overall great performance against dawson which is also his best win imo just like how floyd's best win against chico, destroyed him in the same manner also
