Tszyu seemed to love fighting good, slick boxers, he beat all of them up. At 140 I think Tszyu would land that big right hand and end it somehow.

Thats feasible but i dont think floyd would treat him like corely an ignore anything corely throws cause he thought corely couldnt hurt him. With roger in the corner he will know kt can punch kuz uncle rog will know that

Gatti was not thought of as the better fighter at the time. Anybody with half a brain knew Kostya was a way tougher fight for floyd than Gatti. Gatti was where the money was though. Everybody knew Kostya was superior to Arturo

In hindsight yes. But many people saw an improved gatti that boxed a lot better. An just destroyed leonard dorin and jesse james leija. But yea i agree kostya was far better. They shoulda fought so they could unify

Ya it's a bit shocking reading how some people said Gatti was thought of as the better fighter at the time.

I cannot recall ANYONE, on this board, in any articles, or just talk, say Gatti was better then KT. No one.

Kostya had the most trouble with guys who bumrushed him and kept the pressure on in close range/clinched/wrestled a lot to wear him down. Floyd from 130-140 was more of an outside-minded potshotting counterpuncher. He didn't start hanging in the pocket and fighting in close often until after he moved to 147 and came back. His legs aren't there as much today, so he can't do what he used to be able to do.

In short, for all those guys saying "Floyd would walk him down and beat him in close"... no. That's never been his style to pressure like Hatton did or Phillips did. He was an outside boxer at 140.

Kostya had very good boxing skills when he chose to use them, or felt forced to use them. He had excellent timing, accuracy, and power to go with it. He could also cut off the ring well. His problem was he was in love with his power and liked to brawl with less-skilled opponents because he could get away with it, but an opponent like Mayweather would force Kostya to bring his technical A-game.

It's a close fight for me, prime for prime. Either Mayweather can keep him on the outside with counters, stick and move the whole fight, or Kostya times and catches him eventually. I'd say it's 60/40 in favor of Floyd by decision, but Kostya definitely had the skills to catch him and the power to make it count if he did. Kostya is one of the ATGs of the 140 pound division, and would be a very live underdog prime for prime.

My initial thoughts were that Tszyu would not be active enough. They will box for a few rounds, and Mayweather would begin to sit down on his punches after using those young legs. Floyd UD, FOTY material.

:rofl who ever thought Gatti was better than Tszyu?, Mayweather?

There's a reason why Floyd was the number 2 at 140.....Kostya Tszyu. I'm a massive Tszyu fan and I think Floyd should be the favourite but his style of fighting played into the hands of Tszyu.

Floyd would have beaten Tszyu, but any poster on here who says Tszyu wasn't an excellent fighter is clearly showing their general forum lack of boxing knowledge.

    Tszyu was a great fighter.

However, Floyd is an all time great, and would have beaten Tszyu via competitive, yet clear UD.

:patschWhat?!? Gatti may have been a bigger draw but anyone who knows what they are talking about would never rate any version of Gatti above any version of KT. That's one of the most ridiculous things I have ever read on here.

Anyways, I'd take FMJ by a very close UD or maybe even SD. They would both easily be the best fighter each of them ever fought.

Kostya was a clear level below the likes of Floyd , Oscar and Shane.

His best wins was over Judah and Mitchell.

I also think even in his prime he loses to Hatton , he wasnt that far removed when Hatton beat him , he was a young 35.
