I often question fighters' punch resistance as well, it's an integral part of evaluating fights and fighters. I just don't fixate on it and/or use it as a gimmick. Honestly man, your avatar shows the phrase "It's irrefutable", which I know full well is a slogan often used by the most stupid, racist, brazen trolls that the General Forum has to offer. You are doing yourself no credit whatsoever aligning yourself with such gutter trolls, no credit at all. But your fight analysis is very good indeed these days, and we are finding ourselves on the same page more and more as time goes on.
Elbows will always be a problem for anyone fighting Jones but I think Silva has good enough of a defense to prevent himself from being hurt too much. This will buy him time or opportunity to dish out his potent offense which will materialize major points if not score a sub or KO. Silva will dominate but Jones' takedowns will make it a close fight. Silva wins via SD.
I'm still on Silva's side here. I'm guessing that he'll get Jones in trouble on stand-up. Machida did, and Anderson has unpredictable pattern in striking as well. However, I still can't get over the fact that Jones is an outstanding wrestler and seems to take anyone down at will. On his back, Silva might clip Jones with an upkick or lock a sub the way Vitor did. 1 year ago, I would have said Silva easily, now I'm not so sure.
i think on the feet silva is a better fighter and striker jones will try to get the fight down and thats his key to vicotry..
I was firmly in the Jones camp at the time of thread voting, having seen the last couple of Jones fights I'm switching to thinking Anderson can do it. Jones will try and strike with him imo and Silva hits incredibly hard and accurately.
