Agreed. Burns must be matched with someone like Broner or a fellow title holder. There is no point wasting any of his prime years fighting any other level of opposition. It would only be cheating the fans and Ricky himself, he is more than capable of beating the other top guys in this division.
Carl Froch is a big fighter, but i don't think Nathan Cleverly has the support or following that Joe Calzaghe has in wales.
I said a while ago this would be a tough fight for Broner, I think Broner would win though personally.
TBF to Broner he wasn't overly disrespectful to Burns but does think he bottled it. I know and understand Burns reasons for not going to fight him. I'd love to see Burns fight Broner. I'd make Broner the favourite largely because he's black and American (i know its dumb) but he does seem like a guy thats very well matched and is massive for super featherweight where as Ricky is big for a LW. Ricky is also a very very solid fighter. If anyone plays championship manager he reminds me of the sort of guy who is 15 for just about everything but isnt 19 or 20 for anything. He has no crazy strengths eg is a massive puncher, but can hit hard enough to make you think and keep you off and if you get careless stop you. He's just a very very solid all round fighter. The idea of a Scott Harrison fight really is a joke. Their at totally different ends of their careers. Ricky seems to be buzzing and improving at the moment he's i think 29 at the moment he needs big fights at the moment. Whither its in Britain or the USA he needs to be in with the best.
Hang on PK said that Ricky Burns could take 30/40,000 to Vegas and no one picked him up on this? PK get your head out of your ****ing arse There were only what 9,000 at the SEC. There were a few fans at the Nicky Cook fight and a few more at the Katsidis fight which were significantly closer to Glasgow than Vegas! I bet there wasn't much more than 40,000 people watching Boxnation last Saturday!
Not sure if you're on twitter, but Broner did send Burns a message congratulating him and also challenging him to a fight.
