the only ones that go the other way were reid and possibly kessler in denmark. Would have been more if he had fought more actual contenders like Kessler and Reid.

hopkins would have won young, but he was only able in his advancing years to make calzaghe look bad for a morale victory. post prime zaghes should have been able to stop an old man if he was an ATG champ.

Theres no point hating on J-Cal, he isn't remembered as an ATG anyway.

Bika won only around 3 rounds,Clazaghe beat Reid 7 rounds to 5 and the Hopkins fight could have gone either way,i had Hopkins winning by a point..

    Excellent point,

I'm far from a fan though I respect his career and his reign at the top. People just need to accept the fact that he went undefeated and has earned his right into the hall. Most if not all the individuals I know in the boxing world don't regard him as an ATG so why try and tarnish his stellar accomplishments.

    With Reid -
Ask yourself this. How could you not score rounds 2, 3, 4,7, 8 (

), 12 to Calzaghe? Remember Reid had a point deducted also.

I thought like 2 judges that Calzaghe was a clear winner and except for McCrory who scored a draw and later seemed to agree all of the other studio guest scored wide for Calzaghe including Mcguigan and Eubank. I also think damaged handed (damaged his hand in round 4) Calzaghe won and felt he won rounds 1, 9 (Reid did land the punch of the night in round 9 though) & 11.

    Good away win for Calzaghe

    Hopkins -

. I understand that Hopkins is an American legend that people want to see as an iconic figure. America love a reformist and Hopkins as a former armed robber turned world champ is just the story that wins Americas hearts but...

    1. Calzaghe landed more than 100 punches than Hopkins throughout the fight.
    2. Contrary to what people want to believe, Calzaghe also made Hopkins miss more
    3. All round punch percentages, Calzaghe finished ahead of Hopkins
    4. Calzaghe outlanded Hopkins in every round
    5. A Byrd who scored for Hopkins it appears has a history for bad scorecards. Type in Adalaide Byrd in Google and see what comes up for yourself, still here are some little things for you to look at
    a. A Byrd was the only judge out of the 3 scoring judges that had Mack ahead against Cloud
    b. The K Pavlik - A Lopez fight was scored 98-92, 99-91 by the other 2 judges, A Byrd scored it 95-95
    c. A Byrd was one of the judges that had Morales a 4 point loser against Maidana
    d. In the S Aydin vs S Ouali fight, the other 2 judges scored clearly for Aydin. Byrd scored for Ouali
    e. The J Almaraz/C Tyler fight was scored a Maj-Dec all because of one judge, guess which? A Byrd
    f. The A DeMarco/J Reyes fight was a SD. Guess who the odd judge out was? A Byrd.
    g. The R Torres - M Arnaoutis fight was a close fight, a point either way to 2 judges but a wide result scored by Byrd
    h. In the A Pryor Jr/D Stanislavjevic SD, guess who the odd judge out was? You guessed it... A Byrd
    i. The W Ferguson/J Lopez SD, guess who the odd judge out was? You guessed it... A Byrd

I think thats enough for you to get the picture with Byrd. Remember the other 2 judges scored clearly for Calzaghe

    6. Calzaghe beat Hopkins in America, at a new weight with 3 American judges and Cortez as ref.
    7. Calzaghe scored the single highest score card against Hopkins ever 116-111.
    8. The 2 judges that scored for Calzaghe agreed on 9 of the rounds
    9. Calzaghe landed more on Hopkins than anyone ever.

Now I know there will be a flood of people coming on here noting Hopkins scoring a flash KD in the first round, and I agree that Hopkins did win a few rounds even when he didnt land as often, but people are mad if they think Calzaghe won on workrate, Calzaghe won because he was able to land his left more often than Hopkins could land his right.
Calzaghe finished the stronger and took away the moments Hopkins likes down the stretch.
Other thoughts, If Hopkins thought he was winning, do you think he would have been looking for time out and would bother trying to get points deducted off of Calzaghe, of course he wouldnt, Hopkins knew he was losing.

    Bika -
Admits he lost, like Reid did, and Hopkins seemed to except it when he was trying to get points deducted off of Calzaghe.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------
Still even if you see it as 43-2-1, it looks better than the current top SMW who could be a 24-1-1 with a loss to Boone and a draw with Bika.

the tell tale sign that people struggle to accept how good Calzaghe is, is that he has been retired for 4 years and yet every day another hater comes on here and gets owned on joke threads like this

Hopkins wasn't just any old man though was he? He continued to be a top level world class fighter long after he lost to Calzaghe. Hell, he could probably still give any boxer around his weight a tough fight now.

every old man has severe limitations in lung power at the top level.

his skill level and knowledge is second to Nunn. not even Nunn haha.

no amount of skill will carry you through 12 rounds of high tempo when you are 40something. Hops was smart enough later to pick guys who he could control at a slow pace.

You know, I kinda understand if people scored it for Bernard if it had been over 10 rounds, then Bhop would probs have taken it. But over 12 he didnt have enough in the tank to keep the brain oxygenated primely long enough, and the brain is needed for him to keep outskilling Joe C.

Sure, over 6 rounds, Bhop wins by clear decision. Over 10 rounds, Bernard scrapes it, skill superior before the high workrate of Joe C pays dividends. Over12 rounds, its simply physically impossible to do at his age.
