Jones was lightyears ahead in shotness.

 

He was over hyped by US media, they were hunting for a world class local hero
... unfortunately Lacy turned out to be only a local level hero.

 

he wasn't as overhyped as people like to make it out to be. there were only a couple Lacy fanatics on here. the media hyped him up too much but boxing fans for the most part weren't calling this guy the 2nd coming. to put into perspective there are more fanatics of JCC Jr today than there were of Lacy who was actually much better than Jr. I never cared for him personally, not a fan of that style. I did think the calzaghe fight was 50-50 though, boy was i wrong.

He was massively hyped because he was American and he was a SMW world champ, KOing many of his opponents.
If he had of been from another country, I doubt he would have been hyped like he was and when he stepped up and fought a top European SMW, he was badly outclassed but biggest fraud....

if you look at Lacys resume and consider that the current Ring top 10 SMWs from 3-10

Lacy unquestionably has a far greater resume, far greater and Bute didnt ever beat a SMW as good as Reid.
Lacy arguably has a better resume than Bute.
Knowing the power Lacy had, I wouldnt pick many on that list to beat a prime Lacy if any, as he also had a workrate and stamina.

No Lacy wasnt the worst by any stretch and if he was prime today would be well in the top 5 and this just shows how weak this era is

Lacy was awful skillwise, but could hit hard. Beaten by 40something roy jones who can barely lift his arms to react these days, that says an awful lot.

Earnie shavers equivalent? Even that is being far too charitable to him, everyoen on here seems to agree (apart from the usual suspect).

9. Edwin Rodriguez - not sure; probably not as good as Lacy
10. Adonis Stevenson - about as good as Lacy = Lacy III
