They did the same thing to Sturm and N'Jikam on numerous occasions to no avail. I'll believe it when I see it.
You seem to have a lot more faith in HBO's ability to force this fight than is warranted IMO. Yes they like Golovkin and will have him back, but Hershman was also interested in Geale and Pirog and wouldn't veto a Martinez fight with either. Further, Martinez is in a radically different position than he was at the time of the Zbik mandate. He's a bigger star in the US and a significantly bigger star in Argentina. I wouldn't be surprised if he takes on the current WBC mandatory, another Argentine, there with or without HBO backing, something that simply wasn't possible even a year ago.
And 600,000 people watching you on HBO is not equivalent to over a million. You can't simultaneously excuse the HBO rating for Golovkin-Proksa on the basis of poor exposure while also acting like Golovkin has enough exposure on the basis of that one fight to be seen as the obvious opponent.

That's what I said earlier. If HBO wants it it will happen. Martinez/Dibella won't have a say so. But HBO will also see more options as to see what favors them, since they are the ones paying.

I dunno, if your brother had a vagina would he be your sister? That's an utterly pointless counterfactual that does nothing to change who in actuality has a bigger following stateside.

Macklin's performance vs. Sturm was far better than Murray's. Sturm actually deserved the nod against Murray.

The 80s weren't stacked, he's already got 5 defenses, he's still performing at a high level and he wouldn't necessarily need to beat three champs to unify. :good

It would probably be closer to 7 champs given how much sanctioning bodies enjoy stripping Martinez.

I believe HBO can force it, especially with Dibella bc I've seen what they have done in the past. He is at their will. HBO took his title. And Martinez is no big of a star now then as he was after knocking out P-Will. Regarding Argentina....How could he have a fight there if his whole purpose is to make money? Go thru another training camp for pennies. The Argentine peso is = to 20 cents USD.

Regarding the rating. GGG just got his foot in the door. Martinez averages 1.1 Million viewers on regular HBO. Geale averages 0 viewers on HBO.

But again,No Pac or PBF, Cotto and Canelo are on a crash course for May. Chavez still suspended.

    Who does Martinez fight?

He's not going to give you a straight answer, because the Sergihoes are holding out for the mythical "big money fights" @ 154. That **** isn't happening.

Let Sergio have his cake, he's earned it. If Floyd and Pac got a chance to fight an aging DLH, why can't Sergio have the same type of opportunity? Meanwhile guys like Pirog and GG can fight each other to further prove themselves. Sergio has already fought a number of dangerous opposition which include much bigger guys like Pavlik and Chavez. Sergio fought Paul Williams at a time when nobody wanted to see Paul in the ring. Besides, Sergio going down to 154 to fight someone like Cotto or Canelo doesn't come without risks. Those two are some of the best in their division and Sergio could end up draining himself by going down in weight.

That remains to be seen, but I disagree.
He's repeatedly said he's wanted to defend the belt at least once there and given the fact that his fight with Chavez had a 40 point rating, this would seem to be the best time to do so.
Nevertheless Hershman was interested in bringing Geale over before Golovkin and he's been hyped up as much as Golovkin during Martinez-Chavez and The Fight Game.
I dunno, but it seems like you're relying on an awful lot of projections to dismiss what DiBella is saying about the appeal of a Golovkin fight now.
