Mr. Magoo, a resident Klitschko hater has made the claim that Wladimir Klitschko is building his career and legacy by "feasting off the shells of old fighters". Of course, he had no proof to back that up, because we all know that it isn't even remotely true. I gave him Ray Mercer as being an old fighter, but clearly said that Wlad's legacy sure as hell isn't being built around that win. Here is Mr. Magoo's reasoning for his "theory" Mr. Magoo wrote: Here was my response to that laughable attempt at reasoning.... Magoo... I will rattle off some of Wladimir Klitschko's biggest wins as they stood in that point in his career... I will end it there... and I already gave you that Mercer was old.... I think or at least I HOPE that you get the point by now. Wlad beat just about all of these guys either at, or very near the top of their game. He sure as hell wasn't feasting off of the shells of older fighters. Of all of the haters out there, you are the only person I have heard even try and claim that he did. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Let's here it folks. I know a lot of you guys don't particularly like Wlad or his fans. However, let's be realistic. Even his worst critics have to admit that is a complete lie. Wlad has never even been accused before of building his legacy on "shells of old fighters". Whether you like him or not... whether you think his wins mean much or not... you have to agree that they were not built around "shells of old fighters". I am not claiming every win that I listed was HUGE. They were big wins during that particular part of Wlad's career. In other words... wins that a career and legacy are built upon. I will make the poll public, so we can all see who supports this theory.
I see your point, but no reason to overrate ALL of his opponents, had you done it reasonably i would have agreed with you..
I didn't overrate anyone. I stated nothing but facts in my post. This isn't about "overrating" opponents. This is about whether or not they were "shells of old fighters".
:rofl close the poll now...KLIT by a mile. Now back to the real issue...of your circuitous "debating" style...You accused the poster of doing what you yourself did, in order to present your case. Start all the threads you want...it's a cop out.
I think it's important to realize that the heavyweight division overall is an older group. Average age has got to be at least 30. just look at the top 10, who's still in their 20's?
I dont think he completely built his legacy off beating washed up fighters, but a case can be made for it, guys like Mercer, Brewster 2nd, Bryd 2nd, Austin, and Botha. I think most good champs have a simliar resume as Wlads when it comes to fighting old washed up fighters, though Wlad doesnt exactly have many good names on his resume either, I guess the first Bryd fight and Peter are his best wins to date.
Exactly. Bigger men mature at a later age. Wlad is just now in the midst of his prime and he is going to be 32 this month. Lennox Lewis had a very late prime too. That is the way it goes. I mean... Ibragimov is 32... he is supposedly a "shell of an old fighter"?
Not at all, what you need to remeber is that heavys mature/reach their peak alot later. Plus he isnt even in his own prime yet, he has a host of different fighters to fight, to increase his stature!
Jameel Mc Cline, Top american contender, impressive wins against Michael Grant, Lance Whittaker, and Shannon Briggs. Derrick Jefferson being a huge threat. Gotta admit i didnt read them all, just noticed these as overrating.
Good work widow. You are too smart to keep going back and forth with these guys. You deal with facts and they just attack your character while making false claims. No need to waste your time on them. I notice by reading the posts in the other thread that as you were dealing with the topic at hand, which was the accusation put forth by magoo about them being shells of old fighters, that they kept turning the debate into how good the fighters were that he beat. They changed the route of the argument because they had no base behind it. I can't think of any current heavyweight who has beat more active top heavyweights than W. Klitschko.
What you mean him accusing Magoo of pulling up a 'list of random names' to prove the point of WALD feasting on bums when in fact all he'd done was drag up WALDS last 15 opponents, and then (hilariously) countering the argument by bringing up an even more random list of names?
I can tell by some of these responses that Widow isn't exactly receiving the sort of support that he had so desperately hoped for.
What do you mean? First of all... those were facts. McCline was the top rated American contender at the time. His wins over those fighters were impressive... during that time period. Derrick Jefferson was viewed as a big thread to Wlad at the time, because nobody knew how Wlad would deal with someone of Jefferson's size and proven punching power. Nevertheless... that isn't even the point of this thread. The point is whether or not they were "shells of old fighters", not whether or not you agree with how good they were.
Not a shell of an old fighter, just a very mediocre champion who probably wouldn't have even got a shot at a belt 10 years ago - and he's one of WALDS biggest wins according to your good self (presumably because he was one of the few that wasn't overweight and ancient)
On the contrary, He gets rather upset when posters critique the resumes of fighters whom he is partial to, then calls people names and utters profanities, when a debate doesn't quite go his way. I think that your compliment to him about " dealing with the facts ", needs to wait a while.
