Lets be honest though, everybody knows that all the biggest fights happen in America so what sense does it make for RJJ to fight anywhere else?

Wrong! Take a look at his record before stating bull****.

Calzaghe fought outside Wales many times more than Jones fought outside USA. That's a fact.

exactly one rule for them and another rule for the rest.typical:patsch

  7. Do they really?

A "big fight" in America usually consists of about eight thousand fans. I've been to Partick Thistle games with more fans than that.:rofl:rofl

Fights in the UK and Europe draw bigger crowds. Hatton, Haye, the Klitchkos, Calzaghe, all have done huge numbers.:deal

It's nothing to do with the size of the crowds though is it?

Otherwise every major fight would take place in an NFL stadium somewhere. If Manny and Floyd ever fight, it'll probably be in a vegas casino that holds about 17,000.

Fights in the U.K. and Europe do draw bigger crowds, on the night, you're right. But the money comes from PPV.

Not even 0.5% of the American public watch Floyd their biggest 'star' fight in his home Country. :patsch

Europe is the new home of boxing and you're just going to have to deal with that young cub.

Why would Roy have needed to have fought outside of America?

America is HUGE and is, and always will be, the home of boxing. Wales is a tiny country. Yes he fought outside of Wales. But how many times did he fight outside of Britain? A handful of times. Roy fought on HBO and had big fights in New York and Vegas. American fighters, or the top fighters that are based there, don't ever need to fight outside of America. America is where the money is.

How many times did SRL, Hagler, Hearns, Tyson fight outside of America? How many times has Floyd fought outside America?

Roy was AMERICAN! Why the **** would he have had to have left America to fight? He fought on HBO and was considered the best boxer on the planet when he was prime.

America was where the big fights were. Why do you think Naz, Lewis, Hatton etc etc, went to the U.S.? Do you think someone like Floyd would have fought in the M.E.N.?

Boxing is a business. Boxing is run by GBP and Top Rank. They have all the best fighters. HBO and Showtime show the fights. All the money comes from American based PPV.

Look at the P4P top ten.

Nearly all of the fighters live in the U.S. why is that?

Donaire, Manny, Martinez have all moved to America.

I'm from England. Europe will never be the home of Boxing.

Here's a simple task. List all of the best fighters in the World.

Then tell me which Country they live in?

Then tell me who their promoters are?

Then tell me what network they fight on, and where they fight?

Boxing is getting bigger in Europe.

But the elite fighters in each weight class (bar the odd execption, like the K Bro's) are with GPB and Top Rank. They fight on HBO and Showtime.

The money from boxing comes from the promotion and the PPV, not the crowd on fight night. Like I said in my previous post, if Manny ever fights Floyd, it'll probably be in a vegas casino, holding around 17,000 people.

Pretty much sums it up. Joe was an awesome boxer with all the tools of the trade and ridiculous handspeed but without HBO and U.S. exposure he is never going to get the respect he deserves. Thank God he wiped the floor with Kessler, Hopkins and Jones before he retired undefeated or nobody would even talk about him or his incredible domination of the super-middleweight division.
