Lets not go crazy overhyping how good Rahman was. He made his name landing a haymaker on Lewis, who summarily whooped him in the next fight. In his prime he got beaten by Maskaev twice, Tua, and Ruiz. Only big win he had outside of Lewis was Sanders
I watched that tonight with a friend and we just looked at each other and shook our head at how poor Rahman was. Btw there is not even a doubt that Haye beats Povetkin, one sided aswell.
Prime Rahman [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQeqquW1ugo[/ame] How good was Maskaev in his prime ? ... Povetkin vs Maskaev ? Styles make fights. Nobody knows what a prime Rahman would do against Povetkin. You can only speculate. But people would like to think he'd surely beat Povetkin...Because they have Rahman's KO over Lennox in mind.
This. If there was a prime Rahman, it was against Tua in their first encounter, and was nothing great to watch. My least favorite heavyweight of the last 10 years (well, there is a few of those....)
Its needless to say that Hasim Rahman was a far better fighter 10 years ago, than he was this weekend. But was he truly all that "good" even when in his prime? I don't know. He was a guy who blew hot and cold. He knocked out Lennox Lewis, then not long after, was bested by an ancient Holyfield. He was Ko'd by an 18 fight Maskaev when in his prime. So who knows?
Haye, the king of beating everyone by destruction in fantasy match ups. but in reality he has 5 wins since 2008 as a heavyweight against guys all almost 40 and the 1 who wasnt had lost 3 of 4 fights. STFU about Haye, the ***** aint never relevant :rofl
I thin'k Rahman would win , but when was rahman in his prime? when maskaev knocked him out of the ring? or when he stopped him in 12th rd?
Im surprised you were surprised by how bad he was. Surely it was obvious from the time the contract was signed that this fight was a joke.
I wouldn't go that far!! Sure he's old n fat n faded lots now...it happens to em all. The inactivity wouldn't have helped either. He should just hang 'em up now n live the rest of his days hanging out with James Toney in Burger King.
