Trinidad-DLH rematch

tito wants it above 154 because he's too chubby and apparently undisciplined at the dinner table to get down that low.

hell, he had trouble making 170 for the jones fight

Tito got more than 10 mil for the first fight. I think he got 13 or 14. DLH got around 22 or so.

 

I just remember him screaming, "Am I worth ten million now?" I guess Oscar paid the ten and made a comment about how he wasn't worth it.

 

Back then it was more of an uproar over the blatant robbery...now-a-days it is easier for DLH haters to say it wasn't as bad as other make it seem...back then you had boxing analysts empahsizing the fact that DLH put a CLINIC on Tito...he coasted the last three rounds because the DESPERATE Tito thought he needed a KO to win (which he did)....So DLH danced around an over agressive and often off-balanced chasing Tito and ended up losing the decision:huh . So most DLH haters believe Tito rightly deserved the victory because: a.) he was given a severe instructional tutorial via DLH left jab :bbb and would forver be a better fighter because of it....or b.) Tito put extra effort in 9 rounds too late (gets browny points from paid off Don King judges) by chasing DLH trying for a desperation KO...????? :huh
The sad fact is that boxing is not perfect. People will always believe they really know who won the fight....regardless the record books will remain the same with DLH undeservingly getting the L. What is a shame is that this fight was an important fight in boxing history (not just another random fight) and for the judges to score it the way they did was horrible. If Tito rematched DLH next month it would be the same fight all over again...with one slight difference...DLH would put forth more effort in the "championship" rounds and secure a win this time....:thumbsup

Basically, what is going to be De la Hoya's last pro fight if not Trinidad? Don't tell me that he's walking away from the sport he rules now as a businessman with a Mayweather rematch... Because if he is and after Tito called him Chicken De La Hoya, he should leave a last testimony in the ring against the arch-enemy...

 

Oscar stayed away because he was tired.

He did however, deserve the decision against the flat-footed, jab-eating Trinidad.

DLH looked bad for 3 rounds.

Tito looked bad for 12.

Tito fought like he had ankle weights on.

You summed it up. tito and oscar squaring up was going to be the greatest fight since leonard/hearns. It sucks that so many things came into play instead. but yeah, back then the shock of the decision was more than it is now mainly because there has been a large wave of crtisicm against DLH for his success or his non success (however you see it). Before DLH was fashionable to hate this was a total robbery. Tito did chase DLH at the end of the fight but didn't catch him. I remember thinking, "What the **** is DLH doing?" But I was never thinking, "Damn, Tito's kicking ass." Tito did not look good even at the end. He couldn't even touch a gassed out DLH. I love Tito, don't get me wrong. But there is no way I think he won this fight.
