Duran would eventually overpower and beat down Pacquiao.

But it'd be a great fight, and he'd get hit plenty. Manny's too fast and too aggressive not to do some damage before the bigger, stronger, more savvy guy gets him worn down.

Duran didn't even get hit plenty against Leonard.

manny's one dimensional offensive approach would become used to swiping at air, after an early 2-3 shootout rounds where he lands some single shots with his speedy straight left down the pipe.

Then the superior overall speed, skill and massively superior sense of spacial awarenessand offence\defence transition\integration from Duran would start to tell in a firefight. He'd get under and around Pac's punches and counter him to bits.Manny would start to get backed up and it would turn ugly.Headbutts, thumbs every dirty trick in the book Duran used and Manny never seemed that comfortable with a roughhousing approach.

No way this goes into the late rounds if it's Duran winning.More likely a stoppage circa 6-9 in a great, but only initially competitive fight.LIke in the 2nd Dejesus fight, the first few rounds would be among the best ever.

Agree with Lora this would be like Dejesus 2 with great two way action early on but then Duran's superior defense and inside fighting skills would start making the difference and he dismantles Pacquiao before stopping him in the ninth round of a great fight.

As long as we are using the best versions of both men at the weight then I would say no, pac just about has no chance here.

Duran would **** him, he`s just much better.

I think Manny has that rare handspeed (or did a few years ago) Manny could have a tough time, but I think he could beat Duran similar to how Benitez did. Counterpunching and using speed. Duran had decent handspeed if a guy brawled with him like Ray did, but if a guy used a jab Duran had trouble with that and then his rhythm would be thrown off and he couldn't work his magic. Duran's footspeed was never great even at lightweight. He always plodded forward and rocked forward almost as a feint. He rocked back and forth when he moved forward and that worked well for him, but if a guy could move and was fast and used a jab Duran would not be effective. At lightweight there were no Benitez or Leonards. Great reign, but no real greats there.

Pacquiao's handspeed is truly top shelf. He's one of the fastest, most explosive fighters ever.

I don't think anybody could hold him to a no hitter, say, Whitaker-Ramirez II style.

Roberto's too good and too powerful, and too tough on top of it, but no way he doesn't get hit hard enough or often enough to make this fun.

Oscar was old and couldn't throw anymore.

Margarito is overrated and a punching bag by the time he fought Pacquiao.

Mosley was just old and susceptible to fast fighters - comparative to what Mosley was at 135.

Pacquiao can make it interesting against prime Duran, because he has power and handspeed, but near-prime Duran is a different beast than those guys (don't even mention Margarito in the same company of these other fighters ever again).

Benitez was a once in a generation defensive master. His nickname was "El Radar".

When has Pacquiao ever shown that type of defensive ability? Manny is a smaller guy thats very hittable. Thats a bad recipe against a prime Duran.

Marquez`s counters were able to blunt his attack what would Duran`s do?
