Is Hasim Rahman Top-100 HW in today's division?

I dont mean to sound rude, but what exactly did you expect from Rahman on Saturday night??

The guy hasnt won a meaningful fight in a decade.

Hes basically 40.

He made his name by landing a huge punch on Lewis, who then beat him easily in the next fight.

In his prime he was a good contender.

Hes nowhere near that even anymore.

Surely no one thought he had a legitimate chance on Saturday?

I expected him to be around 250, and to fight him and go after him like he gave a ****. It was clear he collected a check.

I know he's 40. I knew he would be limited in this fight. But come on, he looked REAL bad in there.

I didn't expect an upset when I saw his weight. I picked Povetkin by KO. I felt he was going to give a way better showing, that's all.

Haters can trash him all they want, but the dude didn't have an amateur career and walked into a gym at 20.

He was one of the biggest over achievers ever...and it's sad at the same time because his lack of focus cost him multiple fights in his career.

 

Povetkin would be too scared to give The Rock a rematch in the gritty city of Baltimore

Does anyone actually know 100 (or more) current HW's? I don't so I have no idea but I would assume he is in the top 100 based off pure speculation.

the funniest thing is that Rahman has blamed his performance on dehydration????? he was a good 25lbs overweight and why exactly would he dehydrate himself for an unlimited weight class? sadly, i think there's definitely some neurological damage. he didn't look too steady from round 1 and once he got hit with a descent shot, he was done. at one point he was moving like a 75 year old man. he's done and it's a shame cuz he's one of those guys who pissed away a few years with weight and discipline issues. also, his jab was working ok considering everything else, he just can't take any punishment and his balance/legs are soo shot he can't follow the jab with his patented follow up. it was also sad to see him walk out with his wife (i think) being totally ignored by the crowd and everyone else, but that's what he gets for signing up for a paycheck where he (or his people) should know he as no business in with a legit hw (which povetkin is despite his title being a complete joke and this definitely being a '**** era')

just too many shots (and holybutts) by hws to the head. some guys are able to fight at 40 descently (vitaly, holy, hopkins, even toney don't look near that bad in the ring) and some aren't. holy at 49 tko's 39 year old rahman

 

Are there even 100 heavyweights who fight 10 rounders ? He is top 40 or so, that's about it.

Rahman was clearly having an off night, any blind nuthugger could see that.

He'll be back to 235 and busting Eastern Euro heads in no time, you can count on that.

 

He hasn't won a half decent fight since 2005.
He's not active by any stretch. He's been fighting cans, and weighed over 280 in his last fight.
His reign lasted 11 minutes.
At his best he's a decent, contender level fighter. He did well - very well - considering how late he started, but was never a top tier fighter. Just below it.

And as someone said. His jab kept landing. It really surprised me how easy he was landing his jab (doesn't bode we'll for Povetkin v Wlad). He was just too far gone to follow it, and had zero punch resistance.
He is very, very shot.

 

i'd guess there are more than 200 active heayweights that can stand on their feet wthout holding on to the ropes.. i don't know how Rahman passed the pre fight medicals but that was the worst joke of a fight i've seen in a while

 

Chil, I usually agree with you and I appreciate your support of Malik Scott, but come on.

Audley ****ing annihilates Rahman. No way can Rahman stand up to Audley's power. He goes down under Audley's first punch. Okay, that will probably come towards the end of the 6th round, but still.

Looking at the Boxrec top 100, Rahman would only stand a chance against Petkovic and Ceballos, and even then it's just a chance.

There are dozens of HWs outside that Boxrec top 100 that beat Rahman too. He's shot beyond belief. After the Povetkin "fight" he was saying he needed a fight against a top 5 fighter to show what he can do, well, some people wouldn't even put Povetkin in their top 5. :roll:
