Do people really rate Roy Jones win over Bernard Hopkins?

It may have been boring but Ward pretty much won every round and was never in trouble.

Theres a big difference between that and what Jones did to Malinga. Jones looked like he was in with a club fighter, whereas Benn had trouble with Malinga.

The same Malinga who lost a SD with Eubank.

Hopkin's "loss" was in his very first fight as a pro. You can't really rate that against him that much. And he went to Mercado's home country where the elevation is like 10,000 feet and only took a couple of weeks to get accimilated. And since that loss, he didn't lose another fight until 2005.

It was a great win against a legend.

 

I liked Calzaghe, he was probably my 2nd favourite fighter after Morales when he was active... but I quite liked Jones too, he was the king of the sport for a long spell & was an amazing fighter. His win over Hopkins was a great win IMO, nobody else did anything like that to Hopkins around that time so the `green` bull**** spouted out by Hopkins dicklickers doesn`t interest me either, it was a great win over a great fighter & is a large part of why I will always put Jones over Hopkins on an ATG list.

 

Benn would have been KO'd as would have McClellan. Use your eyes.

Agree 100% brother. And I am also a big Calzaghe supporter, no slight against him, it's just usually his biggest dickriders make it a mission to detract Hopkins and Jones for some reaosn. :tired

Hopkins is taller but Jones is bulkier, lets not give Roy unnecessary credit, beating hopkins as he did was good enough without making it look like he did it as he smaller man, he was the bigger man if anything but I`m content to say that size wasn`t a factor & Jones won because he was just better.

Yes - It was a very good and clear victory for Jones Jr.

People only question the validity of the win after seeing that Bernard went on to become legendary in his later years.
