So it's okay for Cotto to ask for a CW against Marg, but it's not okay for Pacquiao to ask for a CW against Cotto.

    Okay.

I'm not saying weight doesn't have an effect....there's a good reason for weight divisions for obvious reasons.

The thing about "catch weights" are that they are in practice for the precise reason that the Cotto/PAC fight was made originally. When two fighters from two separate weight classes look to face off.

When a smaller man goes up.....or the bigger man goes down....the catch weight allows for both fighters to "meet in the middle".

But based on Cotto's weight in his fight with Josh....which was 146....his weight of 145 for the PAC fight wasn't going to detrimentally affect his game.

In fact....Cotto requested 145 which was the recommendation of his physician. PAC obviously agreed to the 145 catch weight proposal and the rest is history.

Why PAC wont' fight Cotto at 154 is anyone's guess....obviously PAC is no where near a true 154 lb fighter....he'll never campaign at that weight...I don't think there's a title on the line....so a catch weight for PAC makes more sense.

The catch weight was PAC's idea....but 145 was Cotto's request...which PAC agreed to. Cotto did NOT agree to 142 or 143 which is what Manny requested.

He looks impressive against Trout and Pacquiao loses to Marquez again, im sure team midget will be more negotiable

I dont think the belt should be on the line if the weight limits aren't followed by the weight limit guide lines catch weights should be only for entertainment and purse.

Of course...which is why I stated "Catch weight was PAC's idea"....but Cotto...a grown man, professional and champion made up his mind to fight PAC at a catch weight and suggested 145....PAC agreed.

Successful Negotiations....Both Parties compromised and then mutually agreed to ALL terms. Nothing wrong with that.

It's funny. In this thread you have posters submitting general feedback regarding the article and then you have butthurt/diehard Pac fans who refuse to view anything objectively.

Pacquiao is a F R A U D. His "legacy" (he doesn't actually have one) is built on catch-weights, fighting marquee names coming off decisive/lopsided losses, public defamation of opponents he can't defeat (mayweather/Cotto @ 154), and of course the refusal to take drug tests.

You guys gotta see the forest for the trees. Arum is a piece of dog ****. He just publicly defames marquee fighters to attach his fighter (Pac) to other marquee fighters names (cotto/floyd). Not to mention Arum's life is one big lie.

Good for Cotto. If Pac is so goddamn good then he can be the "people's champ" and fight at a weight which complies with the boxing commission's weight class, and not some stupid catch-weight. ****ing coward.
