Pretty much on point. As we've seen Margarito was another hype job from Top Rank. After Margarito's bricks were discovered, he lost every fight to top fighters (Mayweather, Pac, Cotto). The hype surrounding Mosley was from Floyd haters who were saying at the time, other than Pac, Mosley was the most dangerous fghter for Floyd. I knew Mosley was old and if he agreed to tests, he would gas like an old man. Of course, after Mayweather dominated him, Mosley became old overnight. Guess who then had balls to fight him, Pac the cherry picker.
pac just fought the younger and fresher cotto instead of the old mosley. it's a good decision since cotto is a bigger scalp and would reflect better on pac's resume than that version of mosley.
Good point. It's because some guys don't like the idea of getting embarrassed in the fitness and hand speed department that they pack it in. Mosley can obviously take a good shot so it's not the fear of pain, Mayweather and Pacquiao had Mosley completely shook that he didn't want to throw because he knew he'd take more punches in return.
Cotto is another hypejob. His best win is an aging Mosley. He beat Judah by low blows. He beat Paulie because he can't punch. I've already pointed out Margarito is a bum without bricks.
I remember claiming back on '09 that Pac wouldve beat the Wright that beat Mosley, although not in this site, as I got repeatedly banned from ESB when I claimed Pac KOs Hatton, Clottey, Cotto, etc. atsch
Thats because it was a complete joke to even think he would be capable, almost everyone thought he was on the decline after barrera 2. It would be like people saying current floyd beats ward at 168.
atsch The reason why I though he'd beat them then, is the same reason he beat them years later. Too fast, too skilled, too coordinated. The difference in weight didnt matter really. Cotto, who barely got by nobodies then like Alfonso Gomez was definitely not gonna beat Pac, even if he was 20-lbs bigger.
good for you if its true(you prbably made a lot of money), but it remains a fact that 99% of the people didnt believe that could happen, thats why it was so impressive when he pulled that off and it should be judged like that.
OK, I admit I took a little leap of faith with regard to his ability to take a full welterweight's punches. But his offensive abilities? There was never a doubt. Even at that time, I felt that he packed a full-welter's punch. Combined with the speed of the fastest lighweight, the coordination of a true ATG, and the pride in being a hero to 50 million people, I knew he would be too much for anyone 20 lbs north and south of his weight. Hell, without boasting too much, I think I was the first in the whole internet to state that he beats Mayweather. Not that such distinction gives me anything though. Im just happy to have been proven right.
The second Cotto vs Clottey was finished I thought Pacquiao would beat Cotto. His punches are stiff and quick and with Cotto's leaky defence at times I pictured lefts landing all night. He doesn't have big heavyweight power but you don't wanna be taking those shots for too long. I really hope they rematch at whatever weight Cotto wants to do it at and put all this weight drain stuff to bed. Pacquiao > Cotto.
There is nothing in Mosley's arsenal in 2009 that would beat Pac. Anybody who has seen the 2008 fight of Mosley against Mayorga would know, of course unless you are the dumb *****s, then you don't He was way past his prime already at that stage while Pac was a beast at that stage. If Mosley's vaunted power is all that you idiots are putting your eggs, Pac can eat leather. *****s are just stupid.
