What "storng" basis or proof is that?

That Mayweather was talking **** about him?.. something almost every fighter does?

    Whats stupid about my post?

Pacquiao filed a case against another fighter for talking ****.

Fighters talk **** all the time. He would have to prove substaintial financial loss. Which I don't think he could have proved.

Like I said, if it's that easy, more fighters should do it.

Telling lies is not enough to prove defamation.

OK then legal eagle... why did Floyd's lawyers opt for settlement when Pac didn't have strong basis (making Floyd's defense very winnable)?

Lawyers with strong defenses always proceed to trial and get an acquittal or denial of plaintiff's prayers, and thus, serve notice to all that there was no crime or cause of action at all.

A settlement does not connote acquittal or lack of cause of action. It does not imply Floyd's innocence of the charges. In fact, it usually implies guilt on the part of the defense. Meanwhile, an acquittal means that Floyd is innocent of the charges. Why move for settlement then if the defamation suit is baseless?

The only conclusion here then is that the suit was based on strong grounds. Otherwise, Floyd's lawyers wouldve opted for full trial, get Floyd acquitted, and sued Pac for damages for filing a baseless complaint.

I don't know why Floyd decided to settle. It honestly doesnt make much sense.

Pacquiao would have to prove that Mayweather's accusations cost him money. That would be hard to prove seeing as how he filled out Cowboys Stadium at least twice after those accusations were made. Not to mention the new Hennessey endorsment.

Add to that the fact that they are both involved in a sport where trash talking is a constant.

The fact that Mayweather settled shows that saving money on legal fees is more important than his public image.

I wouldn't be surprised if Mayweather received some under the table compensation for "settling". When things don't make sense, money is usually the culprit.

EDIT: And I'm not an attorney. I just work for one. ;)

No, his lawsuit was utter bull****. Just because they settled out of court dose not make him right.
