Rios Alvarado fight of the year candidate?

Great fight, but I got Maidana vs Soto Karas as FOTY!

 

Are you kidding? Of the year?

That fight and its first 6-7 rounds could be fight of this current decade.

Did you know that fight reminded me of chico vs castillo in the 2000s decade and even gatti vs ward?

 

that fight was just insane it topped castillo vs corrales for me.

 

The amount of power shots landed from both side i thought someone is going to have brain surgery after the fight.

 

The only other candidates are Alvarado-Herrera and Salido-Lopez II. I personally think Salido-Lopez II had a more satisfactory ending, which is why I continue to view it as FOTY at this point. But Rios-Alvarado certainly met, and in many ways exceeded expectations prior to the stoppage, so it's definitely a candidate for the honor.

 

I thought it was FOTY. Hard to top that.

Candidate is an understatement.

 

This damn fight top Gatti vs Ward, Morales and barreras, and Corrales vs Castillo. I seriously thought someone is going to get put in a coma.

 

That COULD have been an all time classic but was stopped early. God knows both fighters but especially Rios is going to have some neurological problems from that bout. Maybe the ref made the right decision.
