tonights fight aside, i have thought for a while that if they re matched in 2013 George would stop him. Mainly because George now sits on his punches and hurts people while James still punches with his fingers. Thoughts?

I like DeGale, always have. Talented boxer, but could be the cause of his own downfall. I had him winning against Groves in the first fight, at the very least a draw. But the fans favorite got the favorable win, 'Ar George sort of thing.

DeGale needs pushing, he needs a better trainer to do that. Macdonnell will be content with as he is now, but he was showing-off and landing very little tonight, he needs to be humbled by a better coach for him to be a better fighter, but as it stands, he will be humbled inside the ring again in the near future.

Stuck in ways as they say.

DeGale takes the second fight. SD

Your first paragraph implies that many of us who were there and who viewed it afterwards and scored it to St George are clueless.

    You know best!!!

Not at all. I didn't watch the fight a second time unlike some of you. Maybe I should? Maybe I shouldn't?

Some people scored it either way, so you can't really say ****. Twas close fight.

Exactly but you impied it was the crowd that got him the decision when in reality it was a close fight.

IMO close but clear win for the saint.

I really don't see what Mcdonell is doing for Degale.

He is supposedly one of the best for pure fitness.

Then why the **** does Degale gas so badly in every fight?

I think it was that, that swayed the judges decision on the night. Still a close fight.

I don't think people who scored Groves, can begrudge those that scored DeGale and vice versa.

I watched the fight and thought DeGale had it, watched it again and scored it as the fight was going on and had Groves by 1-2 rounds. Of those rounds a couple of them were really hard to decide so if the fight had gone to DeGale it wouldn't have been a shock.

Maybe I'd have given a draw too, that's probably make more sense given that some of the rounds I found difficult to score were that close.

That said I think Groves would batter DeGale now, he didn't let his punches go in their fight and I think he would if they fought again, once a decent punch landed James'd have jelly legs.

I don't. I just love the way that people now talk about it like the majority of people scored it for degale at the time which is totally incorrect.

Every collection of scores and polls that I saw after the fight had 2 thirds to 3 quaters of people scoring for George.

Groves really is a pure puncher and times his shots so well. The combo on sierra was very impressive.

Yet the lad above you says virtually the same as me, but scored it Groves after a rewatch.

I haven't rewatched the fight. But even those that have say it was close, and could well have been a draw.

Out of curiosity, who did you have Pacquiao vs. Bradley?

I agree it was a close fight and have no problem with anyone that had Degale by a round.

But the general concencess was that degale had nicked it.

I had Pacman a clear winner. anywhere from 2 to 4 rounds.

It was very close the first fight and a draw would have been the fairest outcome.

As for the rematch? Groves takes it on points again, this time it won't be debatable.

Groves has the better attitude and seemingly learns from his mistakes and shows improvement each time he steps in the ring, Degale does not.

Getting shot of earthworm Jim would be a changing point for Degale, he has gone stale under him.

This says it all really the 1st fight could of been justified as a win either way or a draw but since the fight one guy has improved and the other has regressed.

Groves would destroy him in the rematch. If anything, DeGale seems to have gone backwards whilst Groves is improving with every fight and has developed real power in both hands.

The question was deGale groves 2, forget the first fight they were still emerging talents now they are finding their feet and it's clear to see who is maturing better to the pro game, and it's clearly groves, fight 2 wouldn't go past six rounds. Groves would walk through deGale now and is punching a lot harder than he was in their first fight, groves stoppage before round six.
